What is the situation with extended warranty? Is it worth the hassle. I intend to go off-road with this machine. Nothing wild but certainly for fun.
Apart fron the normal checks i would suggest you get one with the E-LSD if you are wanting to go 4wding.
Perhaps also get one without the air suspension and install a lift kit if needed.

If you intend to do SAND my experience says the Minimum spec to ensure you have lots of "Fun" [=minimum stress & inconvenience] is:
18" wheels 265/60R18 (not 20's) @~16 psi
underbody armour - there is a lot of exposed, sensitive stuff under the GC.
a front recovery point (+ buy a pair of Maxtrax)

If I had my time again I would add:
Quadralift or a 2" lift - will keep the vehicle clear of grounding on the chassis (& stopping)
Quadra drive - rear ELSD - an advantage. The alternative is low range (50/50 torque split) which has a 40 kph limit - sometimes a little low in sand, and requires a stationary vehicle to select. High range with ELSD should be ideal to maintain momentum through heavy sand or variable sand conditions.

I cannot comment on other surfaces.
Have fun!

BUT, I want a CD player for my Laredo.

Spent hours Ripping and transferring music from cd's and also talking books onto usb's. Some audio books have up to 22 discs.

Thought I could do without the CD player but in the end, it is the best appliance for my needs. Sick of fiddling around with USB's in the cubby hole.

Now, I approached Jeep here in Melbourne and they say it cant be retro fitted if not fitted on the assembly line.

Why not???????

Pomdave has ripped his CD out Anyone want a CD player for a 2014 Laredo? and wants the bigger console box. So why cant the cd player be retrofitted to one that hasnt had it??
Ive got a car audio mob here in Melbourne investigating it for me.

Any members here can assist me in this??

Also disappointed still in the sound quality and pick up range of the radio. Very poor. My wifes 2001 VW Gold has a better sound system.

But, the big red fire truck is still purring along nicely.

Bluey
My Laredo came with a CD didn't realise some did not. Its a my14 April build,
Cheers

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Recently on two occasions I have left the grand on the OR2 setting overnight and have found it had returned to the normal on road position.
Is this normal or do i have a slight leak in the system? as it is not sinking passed the normal on road setting I am assuming it is OK.
The car of course is fitted with air suspension.
Picked the car up end on June now has 15,550 ks on it and has been a dream to drive.
Cheers

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi everybody, been off line for a while Wife and I have just returned from a 6 + week vacation in Europe, tourism has gone crazy over there, crowds everywhere, boy it's good to be home.

We hired a car in Calais France and drove up to Belgium and stayed at Bruges for a few days, got lost a few times but that's to be expected when driving in another country. We had a manual Renault and it took a little while to get used to the gear changes on the right and some of those other French quirks, but all in all it was good fun.
Re speed limits, our tour guide in Italy was telling me that the freeway speed limit is 130kmh, she said that not to many drivers travel at that speed as it is ........too slow!!

On a side note, those of you who may be thinking of flying overseas avoid Emirates using the Boeing 777, they have crammed in an extra row of seats by making the isle narrower and the seats the same, it's a new class of 'cattle class', cheaper airfares have meant that passenger comfort is not a priority. ( Barcelona to Brisbane took a gruelling 25hrs).

While we were away I had connected our GC to a Protech smart battery charger which is designed to keep the battery 'topped up' without disconnecting. Glad to say it worked a treat and when I checked the GC the battery was fully charged and the charger was maintaining the charge.
Highly recommended... (Available at Supercheap).

Next on the agenda is the 20,000 km Service, no problems to report, 100 % happy with the GC.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all, has anyone had the plastic surround from the the adaptive cruise control sensor on the lower front fascia fall out?
I have replaced two already, and noticed it has fallen out again

Does anyone know roughly how much set of SRT 20" run flats cost to replace in Australia?

My Laredo also came with a CD and speaking to the dealer, its a lottery as to whether it does or doesn't. Some arrive without and some with. I would have preferred without for the extra storage space, however such is life. Apparently its an Aussie thing.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Official spec is that Laredo does NOT come with CD player, it is a $200 option. No doubt they ordered many anyway as they know some people will specifically want it.
Above Laredo it is standard, and can’t be ordered without. I keep pop tarts in ours.

I find waffles fit well also, kinda warms them up enough to add a bit of maple and ice cream. Shame it only does one at a time.
