Its booked into the service center tomorrow so they can tell me what is causing it, hopefully. The other day I had to make an emergency hard braking and I heard a clunking sound when the GC came to a complete stop. Since then, i tried it a few times to do hard braking and I hear the clunk every time the vehicle comes to a stop. I had a look at all the control arm fasteners and went over all of them with a socket and they all are tight. Any ideas?

Thanks.
What setting do you have it on? OR1 or OR2? if OR2 it's at its maximum height & the shocks TOP OUT & cause the clunk!Try it on normal or aero... does it do it?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Here is a good Jeep story.

I've just completed a 13,800km trip in My MY2014 CRD Laredo towing a 2000kg pop top caravan. The GC performed flawlessly and is an awesome tow vehicle. The GC had 26,000km at the start and now is due for the 40k service. Of the 13,800km traveled, 2000km was not towing. Fuel consumption for the whole trip was 11.9 l/100km. When towing it ranged from high 11's to high 12's and into the 13's with a head wind.

One very happy Jeep GC owner!

Ok, to be clear, not off road. This is happening on normal ride height or aero. I am aware of the thumping on ORII. It's happening on corrugated and bumps on normal roads driving at about 60km/hr. Otherwise its perfect on normal smooth surface roads.

Thank you for the offer, I would be keen to compare my GC against yours to see if yours does what mine does. I would keep you posted once i get some feedback from Albion Service Department.

Damn straight. Aero mode has cost me the passenger side mud flaps. The auto unfolding mirrors are a hassle too. Is there a manual over ride?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

At Albion Service Centre, got the tech to come for a ride with me, he heard what I heard, it was thumping and knocking. He said its normal. I said great, give it to me in writing with your name and stamp, he went umm ummm let me talk to the Chrysler head technician first. He was reluctant to put it into writing. I told him once you give it to me in writing, I am putting your letter to Jeep Australia and the manufacturer. It's just wait and see now.

Finally got my wheel alignment done, should have done it sooner instead of listening to the dealer say 'it's normal' for it to pull to the left.

Tyres have scrubbed already due to it being out.

Advice to other owners is if it pulls to the left get it looked at. Forget your dealer doing it because most won't have the equipment to do it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Agree with the wheel alignment. Mine had a slight pull the left from new along with a slight vagueness at the straight ahead position. After a year of being told it is normal I had the Jeep's four wheels aligned myself. All four wheels were out and since then, the car drives a lot better.

The $60 for a 4 wheel alignment is money well spent for any new owner as I reckon it would be rare for any new Jeep to have perfect alignment from the factory.

One thing that disappointed me though is that the alignment resulted in all four wheels now being within tolerance but not perfect. The wheel aligner spent a good hour on the Jeep and did his best but pointed out that there is a limit to the adjustment you can do with the Jeeps.
