Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I recommend the GC to people as long as they are fully aware that spare parts can be out of stock more often than not, and Jeep Aus are in no hurry to get you urgent parts.
Great car, lots of recalls, 6 so far with the new air bag one today. Of that only 2 affect my car, and neither I am even mildly concerned about.
Jeep Aus suck a fat one, their dealerships are either trained badly, or are just poor in general and they can’t have much influence. But given how bad jeep Aus themselves are, maybe they have been trained exactly how they want them.
Clear as mud eh?

If you are not going to tow or off road, and you want boot space - buy a commodore sportwagon.

Or wait for a Ford Everest early next year.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I would see the Everest as a tow or offroad vehicle, go for a kluger or pathfinder if you want space. Plenty of other options for urban soft roaders......

I had a hire Kluger in NZ for three weeks touring holiday last xmas. Heaps of space but gutless and thirsty.

Pretty impressed with the boot space and the power of the GC.
I'm still doing research on which SUV to get for my newborn.
Come across this forum and read couple of complaints about the waiting time of parts and how bad is Jeep Australia after sale service. Couple of other members reported faults within weeks after picking up their new GC.
I would really like to know if these are just lemon or normal Jeep experience?
As I'll most likely keep my next car for about 5 years, reliability is very important factor for me to decide which SUV to get.

Thanks

Also look at the Ford Territory. The updated SZ Mk2 goes on sale from November I think and with reduced RRP and increase in features and equipment it may suit your needs well.

You have the option of RWD petrol or diesel if you don't need to do any off road driving.

The Territory has a heap of space inside and drives more like a sedan when compared to the Grand Cherokee.

Generally speaking, Its jeep thingy rather tan lemon. Your requirements are safety for baby, the most precious cargo; reliability; 5 yrs ownership. To be honest, in comparison, Jeep does not possess all theses traits well. Kia Sorento 2015 is highly recommended. It has, except for off road capability/towing, all bells and whistles of jeep, plus extras, e.g., 4 cameras on board for safety, 7 seaters, 7ys warranty/capped pricing service/roadside assist. But the issue is it's only available in first half of 2015.

Lol couldn't agree more. Am currently sitting at Franz Josef glacier and have got the Kluger as a hire car for the last week. Boy we miss the Grand. Just gutless over the Crown Range. Oh and the drivers side door is out of alignment (just saying)

SJ & L, wife and I will be there in 2 weeks. Queenstown on Sunday 26th and then off to Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier.

Have only got a COROLLA. Will it make it up the big hills there??
Catching the Tranzalpine train over to christchurch then, that should make it ok!!

Looking at the 14 day forecast for thaT area we should pack these clothings.

I know I would feel safer in a crash in the Jeep than any flimsy KIA breed wagon. KIA also have their fair share of problems.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The drive from fox to queenstown is amazing. Im going to go back and do it on a wrx or a turbo falcon one day....

And if you get a chance take a helicopter flight at fox. Amazing!
