Catching the Tranzalpine train over to christchurch then, that should make it ok!!

Looking at the 14 day forecast for thaT area we should pack these clothings.

Bluey
Excellent Bluey. No need for those clothes though. Snow is gone - ski fields closed. Yesterday and today we are in t-shirts. I'm sitting outside now in Franz at 11pm without a jacket. Pack warm sweaters and a jacket but that's about all you''ll need. The Carolla will be fine also. Everything sealed as far as roads go, just twisty, turny with steep inclines and declines. I flicked the Kluger to 'manuel' today (ie: paddle shift equivalent on the Grand) for the really steep bits just to relieve the brakes. It sort of made a difference but the transmission was so far behind the ZF in the Grand that we laughed.

Tranzalpine is a brilliant trip. You will love it.

I am really enjoying this trip home this time. I do miss the South Island sometimes. Also I have never seen so many WJ's as I have seen in the last week. Only 2 WK2's but lordy, the number of WJs is amazing. Clearly NZ doesn't have the reticence about Jeeps that Australia has.

When I picked it up, there was a $70 charge for wheel alignment. I said it should be done under warranty and he said they never do alignments under warranty. I pointed to the TSB where it says " reimbursable under the terms of warranty" or something similar, and he very disgruntedly removed it. It still pulls ever so slightly left, but not enough to worry about. 17,000km on those tyres before the alignment didn't show uneven signs of wear.
Note that the TSB a describes the test to be performed to determine if it needs to be applied. I think it's seven seconds or less from centre of lane to out of lane on the left, tested in both directions. Mine easily failed that before, but not now.
Thanks,
Russell
Russell,
I had the exact same laughable response from Jeep Albion and Cricks. I have had the alignment done @ 3 different places in the first 20000klms and the car still drifts faintly left - its not a severe "pull" (SWAMBO does not notice it) - but an annoying drift that requires constant correction via the steering wheel. Definitely less than 7 seconds.
By comparison, I purchased a new Nissan Navara fishing truck in April, put a 2 inch lift in it and realigned. The Nissan pointed DEAD straight. It is a lowly ute - not a luxury drive - but in this respect it is way better than my GC. I have had the GC aligned by the same people who did the Nissan - but they say they can't improve it - within the manufacturers specs. #*%£@+#%**?!!!
Can you send me the TSB / link?
Cheers!
Ben

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

with independent rear end I believe the alignment to more critical and harder to do.

If it has to be built, no chance, doubly no chance due to change to MY15.
For me it was Ordered: July 7 2013 Delivered Nov 25th 2013, and that is a normal timeline. Christmas shutdown is very minor, Thanks Giving is a bigger thing for Muricans.

Me and my wife test drove a GC Laredo the other day.
Pretty impressed with the boot space and the power of the GC.
I'm still doing research on which SUV to get for my newborn.
Come across this forum and read couple of complaints about the waiting time of parts and how bad is Jeep Australia after sale service. Couple of other members reported faults within weeks after picking up their new GC.
I would really like to know if these are just lemon or normal Jeep experience?
As I'll most likely keep my next car for about 5 years, reliability is very important factor for me to decide which SUV to get.

Thanks

Get a Jeep, they are fun. Power is great in the CRD, as is economy.
I'd steer well clear of the garbage out of Korea. Take a look at a 5yr old Jeep, and compare it to a 5yr old Kia or Hyundai, and you will see the Jeep is better built and finished.

After, I challenged Albion Jeep Service Centre to give it to me in writing that the noise is normal, which they didn't, they have found the sway bar links are faulty. 21,000km and faulty sway bar links, must have been just a bad batch that got put on my GC from factory. Links are coming ex Melbourne, I believe from Northern Motor Group. It will be replaced in the next few days.

Thanks.
