Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Same has happened with Grands though Hymer... if not done the right way.

I was tempted, but I'm not the kind to wait for a special order just because Victoria or their dealers decided not to stock the 4WD version.

Cheers,
Steve

MY14 Grand Cherokee Laredo CD PLAYERS

Have mentioned this before. I know many owners are not that interested in their CD players because of Bluetooth and USB devices.

I personally would like a CD Player in mine. Wasn't given the option at ordering, thinking it was standard issue.

However, it is more convenient for me because of CD audio/talking books that have up to 24 CD's to rip and transfer per book. Easier for the co-pilot to manually put in a CD at a time from her seat.

Asking if anyone in Melbourne or close environs are ripping their CD players out to put in the large bin. I'm only interested in the redundant player and will fit it to suit my existing centre console.

PM me if any available down here.

Bluey

It's both understandable and not. The exhaust from all those old classically dirty diesels makes a mess of any city. However newer diesels with our clogging filter should reduce this. It is just the time it takes for new tech to filter through to the majority of owners.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Anyone found that the on-board computer fuel consumption and range readings in the Grand Cherokee are extremely optimistic?

I track my fuel usage and consumption manually as well as monitor what the car is telling me and have found that the on-board average is about 0.6-0.7L/100km lower than the actual consumption.

The on-board average only varies by 0.1L/100km as my driving style and conditions are very consistent. Surprised to see that the on board readings are so far off the mark.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

IMO the figures are averaged over far too long a period. On a recent trip towing, I was getting impossibly good figures... even after resetting the trip meters. Having returned home, it's showing horrendous usage even though that's not the case.

I've found it to be a useless trinket.

Cheers,
Steve

To be fair, it's an indicative only.

Why is this something that I should expect mate? It's a very basic calculation derived from the fuel flow sensor and the odometer. I would expect both to meter pretty accurately, so it's just a crap algorithm. My boat system is extremely accurate by comparison, and it is several years old... not to mention reliant on a propeller in water for propulsion!

Anyway... you got to post something.

Cheers,
Steve
