Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I tow most weekends, I fill my jeep twice per week and every time it is exact to the litre, like I said works a treat for me I dont believe it to be a useless trinket. Tell you what I need to fill tomorrow so will take some pics.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

A jetski or quad perhaps? Behind a V8?

Plus your usage sounds the same across tanks, so it's not getting confused.

Consider very economical usage (9L/100) over several tanks, then consistently higher (16+L/100) usage for several in a row. Even if the trip is reset, the first tank at least, and usually the next few, misreport the average consumption by miles.

From what you've said, I don't believe your usage is likely to bring about the shortcoming... so only take pictures if you want. I'll try to grab some of it not working, which is probably more the point.

Cheers,
Steve

Wow, we can go 4-5 weeks between fills, and that is with a daily 80km round trip to work and occasional horse towing.
I don't miss the petrol Pajero, and the guaranteed weekly fill, so nice to not even have to think about it for nearly a month.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My last was a nissan patrol 4.8, if you know your 4x4s you would realize anything is better it was even on gas. I travel 120-150km per day and yes tow a jetski around the states on weekends

Doing better than me Snuke. 80km round trip every day and I'm filling every 2 weeks on average without doing too many km's on the weekend.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm pretty happy with my trip computer, while i haven't done any serious hard comparisons it seems to be on the money at the bowser just doing some mental arithmetic. I have a pretty flat run to & from work with only a couple hills to tackle (use them to give it a bit of stick and clear the PDF). On the weekends its usually some running around in the Adelaide foothills sometimes towing the fishing boat, its not huge. Even towing it Melb onto the ferry and running around the Tassie central highlands for 6 weeks I am very comfortable with the figures displayed.
Overall its great, certainly leaves the my previous ride, Captiva, for dead. (Car & trip computer)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Here it is 737km 91.17ltr = 12.37lt per 100. Jeep computer reads 12.5ltr near enough for me as it depends how full you fill it.

If we were doing 80km 7 days a week, then yes, we would be filling twice a week. It’s usually 80km 4 days a week.
8.1L per 100km is the average, so 1,100km per tank.

Correct, as above, not 7 days a week doing 80kms.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My old cruiser used to get filled every 5-6 weeks. It had a 120l tank and I only did 5000-6000kms a year in it. I've done 5700kms in my first 6 months of the GC, and filling every 3-4 weeks. But obviously a smaller tank, but similar mileage.

edit: I've spent $714 on diesel since I bought it for those 5700kms.... $12.53 per 100kms. Although it had a full tank when I got it.....
