Overland can reach 287mm.

They knocked the GC because of the recalls, do they really think the Cherokee will be any different?

I'm yet to receive any notification of any recall for my GC?

The Cherokee has tow hooks at least. If the MY15 GC's are not coming with tow hooks, Jeep Aus are a bunch of...you know what.

My bad. Overland max 270mm. This is for JC Longitude. Some issues, eg, rattles and transmission sound familiar, inherits from JGC.

"Its 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine gives the Jeep Cherokee Longitude the best power number (200kW) of the contenders, but the heavy beast is also the thirstiest by far.

The nine-speed auto has some behavioural issues, and is slow to kick down when needed and befuddled at other times. "This is the shittest auto ever," declared one judge."

Put to the standard Drive slalom test, the Jeep lurches about as its suspension struggles to control 1834kg. Passenger ride comfort suffers too when trundling around town but improves on the highway.

Annoying rattles in the dash and in the rear came at no extra charge."

I think they hit the nail on the head when they said the rangy is twice the price. A mate has the range rover and won't take it off off road because it's too expensive to scratch. The GC is still the best value for money IMHO, with minimal spend is very off road capable, without the feel of being a large 4WD clunker. As we are finding out, most new cars are suffering from reliability issues. Seems to come with having so many electronics on them these days.

If the KL T/H can successfully go where the WK2 can off-road (even steven's on that score)

but... you are looking for more on-board tech features (win to the KL)

and... you look at cabin/cargo area (win to the WK2)

but... you wanted to pay a lesser price (win to the KL)

then as long as you are accepting of the smaller cabin then the KL T/H comes out on top.

ETA: Towing adds a whole new dimension and the WK2 is the clear winner in that respect.

Towing wrong, recalls?, I haven't had one, and why didn't they use the limited

Just had mine serviced and no recalls. Only a uconnect upgrade, so no complaints here. Not even that rear end creaking that was reported in the article and that's after a couple of weekends of pretty hard bush bashing! Have a low level buzzing from the bottom of the drivers door when accelerating at times. Annoying but tolerable.

With regards to recalls - have you joined and checked your VIN#'s against https://www.moparownerconnect.com/Pages/global.aspx?

I haven't had letters either from CJD Aust but our WK2 has two outstanding recalls against it per the VIN.

The sun-visor wiring recall and the latest air-bag recall.

Worth signing up just to check.

There is also this site to check recalls, just your VIN is required.

Not sure how you signed up. Keeps asking me for my address, however no option to select outside of US, so keeps failing.

It won't accept an au domain based email address. I signed up using a gmail account and I didn't enter an address either.

The recall search area where you enter your VIN# looks pretty much the same as the site that Snuke gave. A screen shot for our GC looks like this:

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I did the same as SJandL but i never used it, as until yesterday I didn't realise the click through to see that section, so I only saw where it said I had recalls, but not the details.

You can also use the site without signing in, just go here and put in your VIN - https://www.moparownerconnect.com/oc...allsQuery.aspx

Bookmark the result page, you will see a URL with your VIN at the end.
