It's just laziness and time of course. There's the capacity to ad txt to their invoices. They can type a big spiel on what you need to have replaced at the next service

Oh and their way of thinking would be "what does the customer need that info for"?

Then again, if it's not on an invoice, did they do it????

I don't understand? You are flooring the accelerator and the transmission is downshifting? I would expect that.

Also saw your posts in the other thread about the TSB that was applied.

I don't know if I have that update. My vehicle is in the manufacturing date range but I didn't pick it up until end November. I dont have any issues as described in the pre-update symptoms, so maybe it is updated?

Anyway. From what you described here, flooring the accelerator up a hill you would expect the box to change down one or more gears. So I'd say this is normal.
(this 8HP70 is pretty clever it can shift directly from 8th to 2nd if it has to.)

If you keep your foot mashed up the hill then of course it will rev higher until either the loading eases of, so it changes up a gear or you hit the rev limiter. I'd say that is also normal for the gearbox when pushed like that.

If you did the same to overtake on the M4 the same thing would happen but the load will be less on flat ground and you'd be going very fast (maybe even over the speed limit ) but as the load on the box decreases it will change up a gear.

Are you hitting the Rev limiter and the Gearbox is NOT changing up a gear?

I haven't revved mine that hard so I don't know what it does. I've only hit the limiter in the manual transmission cars i've owned, and maybe the odd hire car.

I wouldn't be alarmed. You are "putting your foot down" and the transmission is trying to predict when you want it to upshift. If you aren't doing it often, then its probably still trying to learn your driving style.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Didnt have the problem before TCM flash as gear upshifted responsively to gas pedal whether overtake or uphill. Since flash, E.G, travel 90kph at 8th gear on motorway, gear downshift and locked to 7th at the moment when press gas pedal (far from flooring) within speed limit of 110 to overtake, rpm is up and engine struggles at 7th gear; have to ease gas pedal to bring gear back to 8th. It's worse on uphill. This is not normal.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Normally, rpm is around1.5. When gear downshift and locked, to maintain the same speed before downshift, rpm goes up between 3-4.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Well mine tends to downshift and stay there if I push the pedal moderately hard (ie 50% down). Then when I lift off it shifts back up, so it sounds pretty normal to me. Obviously it does this more aggressively under Sport and eco off.

Dont know whether the dealer has tried it or not. What disconnect will do?

The dealer said gear downshift and lockin is not normal, and they haven't seen the problem from other drivers or heard from other dealers who have applied the same TSB flash.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just went for a quick drive to get dinner, at 60kph I'm in 6th at 1500rpm in eco mode. Going up hill and pushing the pedal down 50% the trans shifts back to 4th and 2200rpm, it will hold 4th through 3500rpm, at which stage I back off the accelerator because I'm going too fast, and it shifts back up to 5th and then 6th.

That all sounds normal to me. What doesn't sound right is if you are doing 110kph in 8th and it shifts back to 7 and goes to 3-4k rpm.
