I'm tempted to get grey imports for either the nittos or the goodyears. But I'm guessing no support and warranty locally if I do

What are your experiences of talking to Jeeps customer service?

Ive talked with them regarding transmission issues in last couple of months. I feel like I talk to a brick wall. Bugger!

I think you'll find after lurking around here a while that the consensus of opinion is that Jeep's "Customer Service" is not their strong suit and probably their Achilles heel. Getting individual issues resolved quickly and satisfactorily all comes down to the dealer you bought the car from. Seems some are better at it and take more of an interest than others. Good luck with your tranny.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Got an email from Jeep today saying they have 20% off Mopar. No indications of where said Mopar could be obtained, just a redemption code provided.

Went to mopar.com.au only to find a retail site bereft of products.

So is the provided code to be used at dealerships? Has anyone used similar deals in the past? I want a towbar and am interested in whether the 20% off includes supply and fitting, or just supply.

Cheers, Simon

You are right about the mopar au site - does not seem to have a real physical existence - no way id risk my cash with their website.

Wish Jeep customer service is as good as the Jeep's Ads at Super Bowl. The ripple the ad has stirred up is rather interesting....

You can also try using the paddles and see if changing gear manually makes any difference to building speed.

Back from Wollongong to Sydney via Bulli. Went through some steep uphills. Engaged paddle shift mode on uphills, guess what happen. Press gas pedal gradually more than half way through, yet Nil response from engine, e.g, no rpm increase, no nothing. At time of engaging paddle shift mode, gear was 4th, speed was 30kph. I had to change to auto mode, otherwise car would rolling backward.

No problem when drove on same sections of Rds on downhill using paddle shift.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm not certain you're using the paddle shift feature correctly. When you select a gear with the paddles, you're "telling the car" that you want to use that gear. Like a manual. The difference to a manual is that if you try to entertain an entirely inappropriate gear, the vehicle will eventually take over... ie: idiot proofing.

If you select a gear too high (numerically) for your speed on an uphill grade, there is likely to be a range of accelerator input where nothing happens. As you continue to press down there will be a point where the car again takes control of the gear selection.

When you use the paddles, think "manual gearbox".

Are you saying engine would stall if inappropriate gear selected? To start, this car is smart enough (per users manual) to simply ignore drivers selection if its inappropriate, e.g., the car ignores my upshift to gear 6th at 40kph. In addition, engine shall not stall even inappropriate gear was selected. In my case, it just like pressing gas pedal as if engine's off.
