I'm taking it that you can't turn off or mute that feature in Uconnect! Fortunately don't have that optional extra fitted on mine!

With that 'feature' it also means you have an extra airbag
(non dealer fitted)

I've got one. It's a very useful collision avoidance system. Where there's a hazardous situation up front, out of the corner of my eye I see a foot hitting the imaginary passenger's side brake pedal well before the Jeep radar picks it up and beeps.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

A big thank you again to Big Skiddy and IBAJ for their recommendation of the 'Touch Up Guys'.

Bill from TUG's Narallen came today - arrived at 8.30am and finished at 3pm.

There was a bit more damage than we initially thought.

There was a crease in the rear panel that he fixed through heat treatment.

The heat guard behind the lower fog light was bent out of shape. He fixed this.

The sensor module attached to the inside of the lower fog light had become detached. Didn't know this - he fixed it.

Paint job that he did was excellent. As good as new (as he had promised). I got a lesson on how they match paint as well, including the pearlised DCR tint. He showed me the bottle and the tint shows a real pearl effect in in its original form. Much more than the actual paint work.

I'd always wondered how they match paint and get all that pearl look into it and now I know. (Computer generated with colours/tints and weights). A bit more complex that mixing up house/wall colours at Bunnings.

You guys of course (being guys) know all of this but to me, it was really interesting.

Total cost for the job was $300. Brilliant and I would recommend him to anyone who has an unfortunate incident.

Now, I just need the rear tailight assembly unit to arrive from the US (should be next week) and the WK2 will be as good as new.

I didn't recommend TUG's, but sounds like you did alright for $300.

Might need them in the future though, as I plan to do more offroading in Jeep.

Speaking of which is Stockton Beach worth a visit? Thinking of doing a day trip there.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My apologies BgSk. It was IBAJ that recommended them to which you replied:

Quote:
Agree there are some very professional 'on the road' dint and paint repairers out there, saves the hassle of taking it to a panel beater.
and I assumed you meant the same.

Yes, very happy with the $300 considering the amount of time and effort spent on the vehicle today.

They are great aren't they. $50/ hr isn't alot considered the increase in value after they have done their bit. We do our work company vehicles before we sell them. Average cost about $150, and the increase in value would easily be triple that.

I also love the touch up guys, I just got back from the local public park, and they did a great job.

Found a positive from the service bulletin 14-089. In the past when I would switch from Radio to Media, it would automatically go to CD, even though there is never one in there, annoyed the crap out of me. It no longer does this, it now goes straight to the SD card or Bluetooth, whichever was last used. CD icon is greyed out, no doubt it would become white if I put one in, same for USB icon.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

SJandL, I can't find your post, but sometime back I think you said that your Cherokee had a Nav system which worked with VR in that you could input street addresses by speech. I made this observation to my customer service guy when I asked for them to fix the lack of VR input on my JGC. Their response was that they talked to the sales guys, and they said this wasn't so - the Cherokees still said " not available for this country". I couldn't find a sales person to get access to a Cherokee for myself, but I will try again. Can you confirm that my understanding of what you said is correct?
Thanks,
Russell

Russell, the sales guys are wrong as usual. The MY15 KL Cherokee has VR to Nav that works as it should. - ie: you can input addresses by speech. It is my understanding that the early models of the KL (MY14) do not have this feature.

I have an MY15 (build date 11th Sept 2014) and the feature works.

Would you like me to take a video of it working? The KL is out on the road with the husband at the moment but I can take a video of it tomorrow if you would like further evidence.

Let me know - am happy to do so.
