Well, thanks, a lot of really helpful stuff there.
And thanks also for the dig at Grey Nomads. (I'm not one yet, but have friends who are.) There are lots of really bad drivers on the road, and the vast majority are not within decades of being grey nomads yet.

But all the same, you do remind me of a lot of grey (and not so grey) nomads who really don't have a clue about 12v systems, yet sprout a lot of advice anyway.

If you want to happily deeply discharge your battery, go for it, fill your boots, but I would ask that you don't encourage others to do the same. Poor advice, so why sprout it?
I've seen AGM's destroyed in waaaay under a year by such abuse, and it's NOT covered by warranty, (unless you are lucky, and the supplier doesn't do his homework properly.)

Anyway, that's all I'll say on this one, except that I will do all I can to look after my battery, and would seriously encourage others to do the same.

Not sure it was a dig at grey nomads, more of an observation.

No need to agree, I provided my opinion based on experimentation, measurement and research, feel free to disagree, all good here.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi All,

I know, I know. I've not been around for a while....

Great to see a lot of new people on-board. My JGC Overland just arrived today at Port Kembla!

After many years of putting off my order, it has finally arrived. I will soon be able to express my joys and sorrows like the rest of you all.

Ahh Snuke. I missed the love. I'll soon be able to be speak with authority as a bonafide jeeper!

Have I missed much? I haven't been around for about 8 months. I suppose by now that Jeep Australia have sorted out their problems like:
  • Limp Mode,
  • the Rear Cameras on Laredo and
  • the poor Client Service at Sales and Service areas

    All good now?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi All,

I'm gone for 8 months and now I post twice in 1 day...

Just wondering if there are any Overland owners out there that have the frost interior and light coloured carpets. Is it a pain to keep the carpets and seats clean? Has anyone tried to change the carpet to a darker colour?

Also, has any Overland owner try to change the colour of the trim around the wheel arch and lower front and rear bumpers to a darker colour? My JGC will be Bright White and I prefer the contrast black trim around the guards etc like the Limited and Laredo models have.

I wouldn't mind the feed back.

My Overland has a black interior, BUT my V8 CalaisV has a dual black/cream interior including the seats and carpets being cream.

Firstly the dual colouring looks fantastic, I love it.

Secondly, the presumption that it is more difficult to keep clean is wrong. The light/cream colour just gets a little darker when filthy, still looks fantastic and then when cleaned looks the sh#t But our (other V6) CalaisV with black interior, and the Overland, when the black leather gets dirty it looks crap... it looks really really crap and really really obvious.

So, in my opinion, the lighter colours are actually far better than the darker colours when it comes to dirtiness.

The exception is the carpet mats - cream/light colour ones will look utterly disgusting after a very short time, likewise the carpet if you don't protect with a mat. So what I did with my dual colour CalaisV was put black mats in it - complements the contrasting colour scheme fantastic, and solves that one vulnerable aspect of the carpet.

If my Overland had cream carpet I would likewise do the same trick.

I can take a photograph if it helps at all.

My Overland is Bright White and I personally prefer the all white as opposed to those with the black trim. I'm sure I've read here of Limited owners wanting to paint over the black trim so that their vehicle looks more like an Overland.

I'm sure there would be a Laredo / Limited owner out there willing to swap guards with you.
I think there is too much white with the Overland, just doesn't look right.

Oh Bruno, as the carpets get dirtier they will change to a darker colour. So over time they will be so dark you won't see the dirt, all good. Light leather is easy to keep looking clean.

Personally, I don't like the dark arches on light coloured cars, unless they have dark rims like Benn0 has done.

Thanks for your feedback. I agree with you. Too much white. I reminds me when I got married and everything I wore was white (yes I was married in early 80s) and in hindsight, it was too much - much like my marriage now.

Yes dear? Did you say something...?

BTW, I'm willing to swap if anyone's interested - the guards that is - not my wife.

You could try spraying them using a can of PlastiDip & if you dont like it you can peel it off.
