Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Interesting thing is when I went to a dealer in Sydney a few weeks ago, they actually have a few Limited Diesel (i can only guess they are MY13, not MY12) in stock.

I thought there was a long wait list for them?

200sxr, not sure if you realise the strange yank designation system or not. Pardon me if you do though.
The MY13 JGC had short production run because of the upgraded MY14.
The MY13 ceased production last month and the factory in Jefferson North, Detroit, Michigan is now producing the MY14 model (In 2013)

The yanks have discovered the 3.0 Fiat VM Motori diesel and attached an 8 speed auto to it.
It seems that we in OZ have to wait till July/August/Sept before we start getting our supply.
Sorry if you knew all this.

Who knows with games they are playing, but you would hope once they run out the pressure will be on to promote and take orders for the MY14.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Milous, just posing the question?
Your intro at Post 1 states anticipated production start being March/April.
No one knows the launch date? There is speculation it could be the International Car Show in Melbourne in July.
You have seen one (1)Black Summit addressed to Melbourne, Australia. We don't know the purpose of this one specimen.
We are all waiting on you seeing more Summits coming down the line addressed to Australia to assist in confirming your information that we will get both the Overland and the Summit rather than a Summit badged as an Overland.
Now, Would it be normal to start making Summits for the Australian market prior to the launch date?
and, if the Launch date is later than March/April, which is the dates you have listed in Post 1, say the International Car Show in July, then putting two and two together when would you actually expect to see another Aussie Summit coming down the line? March/April before launch date or after launch date which would be a date no one knows (yet) but could be later than March/April and even as later as July (or even later).

I like it. A very nice car and white it is.....and your choice of interior? I will have to learn how to put a picture up but not yet as no point in posting a Summit as it is a little premature until we hear more from Milous.
Its funny how the new shape grows on you. After a long affair with the looks of the My12/13 they now look a little "aged". Life does move on.

I am working on trying to confirm the launch date. I don't believe it will be as late as July as there are already a lot of 2014 Australian models scheduled for build.

It's VERY expensive to get testing and certification done for a vehicle. It would seem logical to me that Jeep would have known before the pre-production vehicle was ever built whether or not it was going to be offered. There are other countries for which just one or two RHD Summits have been built for (so far), countries for which it is known 100% that it will be offered there. It's certainly would be possible, although very perplexing, for them to cancel and not offer the Summit in Australia, especially considering that it is it's own model now. There is a long list of countries in which the Summit is being offered, and so far Australia seems to be the only country in which there still remains doube as to whether or not it will be offered.

Some of the crew is keeping an eye out for any coming down the line.

Yes, absolutely. They need x number for emissions testing/certification, road testing, company cars, press/show vehicles etc.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Milous,
This response:-
I am working on trying to confirm the launch date. I don't believe it will be as late as July as there are already a lot of 2014 Australian models scheduled for build.
Now that reply is very intrigueing. Obviously you know this BUT does that scheduled list include the models, ie: Summits. (sorry Milous, I am like a dog at a bone).

With respect to you saying we are the only Country where their is still doubt on the Summit:
We have a Prime Minister that reckons we "lead the world". How come we're coming up the rear deciding on this one. There's a nice big Luxury car tax she could be getting...ha, ha.
Thanks Milous, my fingernails are totally gone!
