The clear plastic stuck onto the rear of the rear doors (I guess it's vinyl wrap) is also quite damaged by stones. I haven't pulled it off to check the condition of the paint though.
Thanks,
Russell

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My old Challenger had painted flares and they ended up fairly stone chipped on the underside - much prefer the black arched on my Laredo.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Can someone on this thread of knowledge help me out with this, the anti rattle bolt/nut has stripped the thread in the hitch receiver on the tow bar, can I re drill and weld a nut on the outside while the towbar is still on the GC or do I have to take it off to weld, pretty poor way it was done originally.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

You can weld on the car, but I'd try to avoid using arc... not that many use it now. Disconnect the battery negative before work.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

What about drilling hole slightly bigger and tapping a new thread with larger bolt?

If you can, try and drill and fix the nut on the corner of the square receiver. This will push the shank into the opposite corner of the receiver making it more stable.

The problem with having it fixed on the flat is that the shank tends to see saw on the bolt, flattening the end and burring the thread. I have found the most effective way of taking up the slack is a couple of wraps of duct tape around the shank. I have had to re do it once in the last year. Simple but effective.

Pete

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I agree that 45 degrees would be the best location. I think two bolts are probably required if there's any chance of achieving the desired effect... with larger trailers anyway.
