No, they told me but I forgot. I think I still have his mobile number if you wanted?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I've been thinking about rocksliders since the rear wheel trims got shredded by gravel blasting on a Kimberley trip (Overland with colour trims). But to be useful for that purpose, they would have to have no gap between them and the car - are yours like that Bigskiddy?
I am somewhat put off by the fact that the sidesteps on my Landcruiser get dirt on my trousers as I get out of the car!
Thanks,
Russell

The uneek ones are out a bit and cause that for me. Swmbo is the same and complains about it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all, I haven't done a complete tank of fuel yet and I've already done 750 clicks with another 160 clicks to go. That would make it a total of around 910klms per tank of diesel. That's amazing!! Is that what other diesel drivers are finding? I must say that it has been a mixture of "Driving Miss Daisy" around town with splashes of "Fast and Furious" on some isolated stretches of road. (It's a rocket!!)

One thing though (and don't laugh!!!) the other day I started to hear a rattle whilst driving. I then thought (and I really, really hate rattles) that I had ended up with a lemon. I was really annoyed with the thought of trying to isolate where the hell the rattle was coming from and I was already foreseeing constant battles with Jeep Techies and constant trips back and forth getting this and the rest of the car, which of course would fall apart as a result from the "rattle", and that I would end up hating my decision that I bought the Jeep in the first place.

My daughter heard my woeful angst and pointed to where the noise was coming from.

It was my sunnies rattling in the overhead sun-glass storage.....
Did I tell you that I love my Jeep?

There is a lot to love for sure. In 8,000kms and apart from towing the van I'm using an average of around 8.5L/100kms. So considering you would probably top up with 10L remaining in your 95L tank you could easily get 1000kms and probably more on a long highway trip.

I did something similar with my project car once. I think it was when installing new steering rack - took for test drive and panicked at the rattle sound I could hear. After an extensive rechecking and retorquing I was at a complete loss, until I started pacing my tools up to clear my head and realised the spanner I had left in the (front) trunk was the culprit. Next test drive was nice and quiet

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I had a similar rattle. The service guys hunted everywhere, even pulling off the A pillar trim and resecuring looms etc. Sadi that couldn't find it. Bring it back again one day.
After lots of driving around to find rough roads (not too hard where I live), it was the garage door remote that I carry in the ----- overhead sunglasses compartment! Welcome to the club....
Also, when I fill up, I get a range of over 1,000km showing. And that's with mudflaps and an ARB bulbar, both of which I thought when they were fitted negatively impacted consumption. I wouldn't be surprised if yours improved as it runs in.

I'm not going to let you get away with it Russell. You originally said "mudflats".
But I'd be surprised if mudflaps would affect consumption??

cheers
Ian

I have great difficulty with autocorrect on the iPad I did mean mudflaps. I had them fitted not long after I got the car, so there may well have been many variables as my driving style varied. But, I do the same trip on the same freeway at the same speed every week or so, and I'll swear I lost about 0.5l/100kms!
But I still get low 8's on country roads - a bit better than freeways actually. Speed is very significant - 100kph vs 110 is noticeable. The bull bar probably contributes to that. The oversize tyres confuse things too.

I have roof racks and mudflaps and still do low and at times sub 7's on a trip from Brisbane to the Gold Coast. I think the mudflap and roof rack (mine are whispbars) impact on fuel economy thing is over rated. And the air conditioning is always on too.
Love my Jeep. Even with the crap camera awaiting replacement.....
