Your sounding like a yank surely common sense prevails using cc whilst towing. Just because it is advised not to doesnt mean not too.

Thanks for your input. This is the problem, where is CC better than ACC? They both do exactly the same thing in that it keeps the car at the set speed. With ACC, it has the added feature of reducing speed so you don't smack into the car in front of you. Do you have ACC? Perhaps you may not understand the issue here.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

There's a bit of a segue happening Bruno. I think the above suggestion is to make your own choices based on all the variables at play. One or more "less ideal" circumstances when towing... probably not a great idea to use either Cruise or Adaptive. Bear in mind that a lot of the anecdotal bad press attracted to cruise control and towing is to do with insufficient gear ratios and lack of torque, which tended to provide some pretty radical shifting. At the wrong moment this could go from being undesirable to dangerous... maybe even causative.

As far as Cruise as an alternative button choice in an ACC equipped car... I can't see the point from my perspective. If I could have another function, I'd have the "limit" function in our 5'er. Once set it limits your speed to the setting... until you cancel it or mash the accelerator down for a temporary override. It's quite handy. It'd be ultra cool if it picked up the applicable speed zone from the Nav... combined to make adaptive cruise with local zone limit.

Cheers,
Steve

Yes mate i fully understand i have the overland and frequently tow 3t so i do have a pretty good idea of what it does. Like i said common sense previals in when you choose to use it. Like any driving aid you still need to be in control its like auto pilot lol. Think of it as an added bonus as most other cars dont have it.

BTW,...... How do you turn off the radio?? It seems that I can only either mute it or switch it to CD player with no CD in it.

Have I got a missing button? Maybe the CC took it. DANG!

Seriously, I'm sure I'm not having a blond moment (sorry blonds) but can you turn the radio "Off"?

Afraid the answer is No, you can't turn it off. You can either mute it or for me I just turn the volume down to zero.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I wonder why you would need to turn it off? Doesn't mute do the same thing?

I don't use my radio at all, so I might be missing something.

Mute works but the car doesn't retain that selection once turned off . The only way to guarantee the radio is off when you start the car is to turn the volume right down. PITA. I too would rather the default setting on the sound system to be off. Perhaps one day in the future with a software upgrade.

Along with Shuffle on, Eco off, Temp as I freaking left it, EQ where it goddamned says it's set to, etc, etc, etc. The default programming of the simple features of these things is utterly retarded. It's like no one from Engineering ever test drove one...
