With you there Steve.
The wife's Beamer has it and I also had it on my previous Discovery 4. Awesome spot.......

Cheers, Craig

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Why, if it is automatic (check marked within Uconnect), does it matter where the button-lever is (on the centre console)?

When the vehicle is placed in Park, it engages. When the vehicle is placed in Reverse or Drive, a tap of the accelerator disengages it. You don't need to touch it at all. Just forget about it.

It sits just below the shifter on the KL by the way.

ETA: I'm playing devil's advocate by the way.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

That's cool if you like that sort of thing. I'd rather have convenient access to manual control, especially when manoeuvring / parking / hooking up /disconnecting trailers on our steep driveway. If it's reliant on the seatbelt being worn it's junk as far as I'm concerned.

Never really got into the Beamer's auto park brake feature either. I like toys, but don't have the horn for this one.

Cheers,
Steve

If your belt is not buckled, it requests a manual release of the park brake. A simple downward press of the button. It ain't hard.

Yes, but that then requires the button to be in a convenient location... which actually was my point.

Yes, I got your point. But it is in a convenient location. It's just where my hand happens to rest pretty much all of the time because I don't rest it on the shifter. You however may be different - I'll concede that point.

Here is where it is on the KL and where it probably will be on the refreshed WK2.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My wife's rig is a Holden Captiva 7 Diesel and it has an electric hand brake. I actually love it. My wife has driven my Jeep a couple of times (too many actually) and she keeps pressing the foot/hand brake, much to my chagrin, "beyond the chassis". An electric hand brake works amazingly well and I can foresee all cars will have them soon enough.

Wish my MY15 had it.

BTW, my MY15 is diesel and the economy is heaps better than my wife's Captiva diesel even though the Captiva is only a 2.2lt 4 cylinder. Heaps more grunt to boot as well!

Love my Jeep!

Electronic hand brake is great (not) when you get a flat battery. Unable to roll/push into position for a jump start.

My wifes renault has elec hand brake, there is a lever in the boot to disengage if the battery is flat.
