Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just had my 20k service and the dealer applied the RRT 14-104 PCM enhancement even though I didn't have any issues.

Up till that service I had been averaging high 7's and low 8 litres/100kms for mileage around town (I have AT 4wd tyres on and bullbar etc), depending on how I was driving. I always drive in sports mode, like the punchier feel and didn't really notice a difference in mileage between eco or sports.

The day after the service, same drive to work, I'm running at 10.6 l/100km. Drove to work over the weekend, early starts no traffic, so nice easy run and can't get it below 10l/ 100km.

I thought the mileage was supposed to improve with the RRT not get worse. Anyone else find it made their mileage worse?? Have complained to the dealer and they are "getting back" to me on that one. I must admit, it does seem smoother, however.......

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My consumption hasn't changed after the update, but I've never got 7s or 8s around town in eco mode. I get that on the highway, and 11-12 on short trips and to town. Mainly in eco mode.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Had RRT14-104 done earlier in the year and noticed no difference.
The injector timing is fiddled with a bit so i was wondering if there would be any difference in performance.

I get around 10L/100km around town (standard Michelins, no bull bars etc)
In sports mode it might go up to 11L.
Longer urban with some 80kph sections down in the 9's.

Highway steady 100-110 just into the 6's with ECO (6.9 - 7.0)

Did 1000km trip to BNE and got 7.1L/100 average and that was including traffic at both tends. (pre update)

Towing a 1500kg Van to Brissy this weekend and would expect 12's.

I drive like miss daisy though unless I'm in a hurry.

Having larger diameter tyres will skew your EVIC readings a few percent.

Update
All is ok now, the rehash of the original wheel alignment fixed the problem, vehicle tracks correctly now, point the wheel in any direction and it maintains that track. It was a Castor problem.
Bad news is that it cost $180 to fix, but worth it.
Thanks everyone for your advice and input.

Hi nicjak, so are you saying that you changed your fog lights for spotties? If so, how did you do that? Is there a kit? I wouldn't mind "ballsier" high-beam lights than what the Overland already has.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Changed the globes only to hid with ballasts. As the fogs are on all the time during high and low its as equal to driving lights. It does annoy the odd other road user though.

Drove Sydney up to Brisbane and back this past weekend via Pacific Hwy.

Towing a 1500 kg Jayco Swan Outback on the way up and came down without the van on but with pregnant wife and 8 y.o son and loaded up with their luggage from school holidays up there. The trip up was more peaceful.

UP: 11.3 L/ 100km - better than expected

BACK: 7.3 L/ 100km - not a good as my previous BNE trip but still on 1 tank easy.

I had it hovering on 6.8 - 6.9 but then used the cruise control a bit more and it jumped into the 7 's.
