My understanding is that the Overland will not get the Adaptive headlights which is a real shame.
Thanks Webber, the adaptive headlights would have been great.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Milous thanks for the great build sheet and tracking. As my dealer doesn't know is ( passive speed limiting device) cruise control on my limited, and why would my car still be in Inspection status 24 days after completion of build?

Page 3 on your build sheet: "NHRP - Passive Speed Limiting Device".

Depending on QC and other factors (backlogs) it would not be all that unusual for your vehicle to be in Inspection that long. Some go through fast, some not so fast.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

With regards to the reliability aspect of the Jeep, the reason we are upgrading to the MY14 is because of the reliability of our current GC Limited 5.7 Hemi.

No other vehicle that we have owned has proven as reliable. Yes, the other day it blew a radiator hose but that's nothing. Husband fixed it and it cost me $68 in new coolant.

And I'd best not mention the time last year when a neighbour called us to ask if we would mind bringing the Jeep over to his top paddock to tow out his bogged Landcruiser.

Each to their own, but for every unreliability issue that people want to mention, there are equally the same number of very happy owners (and I think that holds true with any vehicle).

Just my 2c.

I'll take "Intended acceleration" over "Unintended acceleration" any day!

Yoda, You need to be prepared for the lengthy delays that "could" confront your car.
I suggest you take a look at an extract from last year.
As you will see, the car was built on 21Nov, but did not leave the factory premises until 27Mar. So for 4 mths that car got "stuck" due to some issue.
Having tracking is good, but it can also be the cause of many sleepless nights when something gets stuck and you can do nothing whatsoever about it. From memeory, I think that car hit our shores in July. The owner eventually got another car.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thank you. The dealer told me 2 weeks ago it had been waiting for a ship at loading port for 3 weeks!
From factory it is weeks to ship, 6 weeks to Oz, 1 - 2 weeks to dealer and 1 week at dealer according to the dealer, so if it is stuck in QC is is minimum 3 months away still from a December 1 order and deposit payment.
I don't like the Mercedes M class but it may still be the only option I have to get back on the road that fits most of why I am buying the car.

Not a bad review of current SUVs here:
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4x4 EcoDiesel vs. 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML350 BlueTec vs. Porsche Cayenne Diesel vs. Volkswagen Touareg TDI - Luxury Diesel SUV Comparison - Motor Trend

Can't find a Toyota in this list.

Sounds like the dealer is simply making guesstimates after hearing the build date. Without knowing exactly what was discovered in quality control, makes it hard to determine what is happening and where the car now is. Also, without that info, it is impossible to know when the car will be released.
Assuming the car was released today, I would guess you would be waiting 9-10 weeks to delivery, which would give you a July delivery.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

On the positive side of the detailed build advice, I discovered this limited with off road and luxury packs will indeed have Michelin tyres, tow eye brackets, tyre pressure monitoring, a full spare tyre, and 9 speakers plus sub woofer.
Maybe I'll just find a friend with a Toyota to pull my boats for the next 6 months while I wait for delivery!
