2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yep - steel spare is standard issue, despite JA brochures stretching the truth by stating "full size spare".

And there are lots of threads that discuss the issue - maybe try the 18in and 20in threads.

I ( and lots of other people) have managed to come up with mag and tyre combinations that fit in the wheel well - I for example have a proper mag and Cooper AT3 that fits fine.

Thanks GMWK2. Did you do anything special or did it just fit. I have the Overland with 18" wheels (ORAII). Are you happy with the AT3s? Not too noisy?

I have an alloy in mine the lid just doesn't quite click in.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

An interesting TSB for export diesels:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0900615.pdf

A small number of customers may experience a slight engine shudder while driving. They
may state that the condition feels and sounds like driving over rumble strips. It may also be
perceived as an internal transmission issue or engine misfire.

The root cause of the engine shudder has been found to be due to excess carbon build-up
on the exhaust valve stems and will typically happen on vehicles driven mostly in light load
conditions. As a result, new cylinder heads have been released that are equipped with
newly designed valve stem seals. These newly designed seals are designed to help
prevent excessive carbon from building up on the valve stems.

I think if you have this problem you've got buckleys of the dealer accepting that you do and be willing to carry it out this TSB.
It's quoted as a 27hr job!
As a 1hr service takes them 8 hrs to complete, this will take them at least a month.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

It says the repair must be carried out by a "highly skilled (3) technician.
Where are you supposed to find such a person in a dealership?

Perfectly happy with the Coopers - they now have 70k on them and I've found them to be a good compromise between on road performance and the light off road trips we do. Very good on sand. I guess they are noisier than a pure road tyre but they are fine - I really don't notice.

The mag and Cooper tyre fitted in the well without modification. The floor clicks shut - just. My mags are MY11-12 18in standard Laredo.

But the jack and other tools have to be relocated, right?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Interesting that the earlier 18" alloys fit in face down. Thanks for clarifying GM.
