Any thoughts, not sure if it is a problem
Every cruise control I've used is like that, just that the Wk2 diesel has so much torque compared to a Camry or Bommodore or whatever and the 8speed gearbox is able to shift directly from 8th to 2nd if it has to.

Most cars I have had are like this. I don't notice it anymore as I now always accelerate myself to 5Kmh below the setting before hitting Resume.

Thanks Snuke, good point, I need to change my driving style.
As to other vehicles Cruise control, my wife's Nissan Maxima is silky smooth, to resume from even 60 to a 100km is very smooth, it accelerates enough but not excessively or like a slug, I guess this is what has spoilt me somewhat.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The thing I really like about the Jeep's cruise is it automatically brakes when speed gets a few K's above that set. No speeding fines! Had a Nissan that when you hit a hill the speed would drop while the cruise kicked in, then before you knew it you would be doing 10 K's over, still accelerating up the hill.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

That is engine braking.

Gforce, my Falcon is quite pedestrian in its resume speed. I like to go faster than it does, but all others have been rockets. I have never tried the Jeeps from anything less than 5kmh just out of habit.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Not answering anything... just expanding the discussion. Another option which may better suit you is to decelerate and re-accelerate using the - and + buttons... holding them to get 10km/h increments. I find this a pretty relaxing way to stay within the speed limit when passing through country towns. Whilst particularly low speed limits do sometimes require the brakes to be used which cancels the cruise, at least the "resume to" speed is set lower for when you reactivate cruise. It'd be an even better method if the buttons had a tactile nature, but I should stop whining about this.

Our other car is a bit more of a mature autopilot in the way it resumes also. Funny, because it's the sporty looking one.

Cheers,
Steve

Same here, despite being in Eco the jeep lifts off like a bat out of hell on re-engaging CC. To top it all off this is post transmission change (for the harsh shifting)

Out on the freeway yesterday weith the adaptive cc set on 100kph. Come up behind a slower vehicle and automatically slowed to 80kph. Vehicle in front pulls over, Jeep throws me back in the seat as it takes off to 100kph again. I was expecting it though and a sideways glance at the missus sees her wearing her "having fun you hoon" expression.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yeah I got my photo taken in similar circumstances, as I was using the car in front to moderate my speed through a reduced limit. They moved across quite quickly, and before I could react I had another 10 kays on the dial... exactly at the wrong time.

Snuke. I'm fairly certain when going down steep inclines when the engine braking is not enough the cruise activates the brakes. I'll try it again on a steep hill near me in both manual and cruise to confirm.
