None of my previous cars were so aggressive on resume with the cruise. Even my bike (which has a cruise) is smooth on resume. None of them have taken me over the set speed, whereas my Jeep will go 10 or more over, before slowing back down.

Yep, agree with your statement, I think that because the non adaptive cruise doesn't use the brakes plus the build up of speed on resume it can easily take you over the set limit, after all it's simply inertia as the GC' weight works against it.
As to downhill runs, I use the paddles. There is a particular spot in the Clem tunnel in Brisbane where it dips down to go under the river, if you don't watch it you can easily exceed the 80k limit even on cruise and the cameras will get you, only a problem with Laredo and Limited models as the other models with adaptive CC won't experience this problem, maybe in time with the new models all of them will have the adaptive type fitted.
The Jeep is a great car, I would certainly buy another in a heartbeat, but it certainly has some strange quirks to deal with.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi cptslobodan,
I know this is late but thought I would share anyway. There is a 2nd battery thread which shows a great hidey hole under the front passenger seat for those who don't have the QL suspension. A somewhat smaller battery required but very tidy I thought.
I have QlL so ended up with a custom battery box behind an 40 lt. Engel Fridge. Right hand side behind driver. The box tucks in behind using the slight angle space of the rear seat but the rear seat is upright. All can be removed pretty quickly.
cheers,Guy

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Two tests. First on an 80kph road that has a major downhill section, I usually drive without the cruise on, downshift the auto to 5th, yet it still creeps to over 90 so I have to brake. Today set the standard cruise (not adaptive) to 80 and sure enough it sat on 80, box was in auto mode, went from 7th to 5th but felt a lot like the brakes were applied automatically a few times.

The second test confirmed my suspicions that the brakes are applied automatically. On the highway, standard cruise set to 100, I quickly set the cruise down to 80 and wham, the brakes were applied, even a small squeak from the pads. Auto stayed in 8.

Well did it again yesterday with normal cruise control set to 100kph. On the same downhill section went only to 101/102 before I felt it pulling back. Can't understand how some get up to 10kph over

Mine was getting nearly 20kmh over the set speed. There is a TSB (21-012-15) to apply that fixes this, I had it applied and it made a huge difference.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

A few days ago I had the exhaust changed a bit. From the DPF back I had 2.5" stainless pipe (std was 2" stainless) with mandrel bends and a pair of straight through stainless mufflers, hot dog style.
Not much change to the sound but it is a bit throatier, when the foot is down. But the most noticeable change/benefit is that it feels much quicker away from the lights, little or no lag. Will be towing the boat tomorrow, will try to check the temp & economy.
So far so good.

Ours is an MY 12. Always done that since new as well. Bugs me in that you can't just hit resume. Would have thought they would have that sorted by now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

On the way up north I resume speed a number of times and the diesel just pulled nicely up to speed, I also noticed that it changed down gears a few times to maintain speed on a downhill run. On previous cars which were petrol 5 speed auto it would maybe kick down to 3rd and roar up to speed and over but not in this diesel.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I don't think the cruise on the Laredo applies the brakes downhill. Mine has the TSB applied, and gears down on downhill sections to maintain speed. I reckon the torque converter remains locked, hence the better engine braking. It's not too bad, but on steep gradients it still needs a helping foot if there's a speed camera down the hill.......

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

On this web page, Safety Recall Information | MOPAR , if I put my VIN number in the box I can get all the recalls my Jeep has had. Does anyone know of a website that I can search via VIN number and find out all the TSB's my Jeep has had? There is a website, http://www.moparownerconnect.com/oc/...spx?brand=Jeep, which could do it, but appears to be only for US based vehicles.
