Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Can anyone tell me what the update number was for changing the eco switch , too default back to sport mode. Rather than always going back to economy mode every time you start it. Dealer said it cant be done? I thought I read here a while ago that it could be updated. thanks Burger.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thank You Russell, Does that mean I can put it in Sport mode around town and wont go to Eco mode when vehicle is stopped/ started until I press the button again out on highway at a later time/day? I read symptom/condition part, says- **Eco mode will not retain settings. If Eco mode is turned off, it will turn back on after the ignition is cycled.**

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

That's my understanding, and the mechanic at the dealer agrees. However, I haven't tried it because for some reason the car won't accept the flash. I've spend many months trying to find out why. JA says it is because the fix is already applied, which both the mechanic and I agree is impossible because no flash at all has been done since the tsb was released. I'm after it for the fix to the transmission not holding low gears.
In any case, see if you can get the dealer to apply it - mine didn't know it existed until I showed him the printout.
Thanks,
Russell

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks again Russell, will call him tomorrow. They have had my vehicle for nearly a month, to fix gearbox problem Ive had for two years. It would jump/surg/hunt/klunk between 105kms to 115km/hr when you planted your foot for quick overtake. It has had heaps of updates + never shows any faults on computer. They had it for a week in September and proved to Jeep Aus. that problem did exist. that got forward to America, who said it was a turbo problem? the klunk noise was coming from my feet area. Anyway a $8000 turbo was put in and made no difference. So finally Transmission cover came off showing heaps of fine metal. The $20000 trans turned up, but waiting for oil cooler + pipework etc. Jeeps customer care are a joke, took 4 days for a return phone call , for a loan car to be approved. Then back at work and could not pick it up from Dubbo, which is 170 + kms away for another week.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I had that TSB applied, it improved the trans, but the ECO Off fix did not work. I am not the only one that experienced this.
I am not concerned I have adjusted my throttle application to get over any laggyness of the ECO mode and I don;t notice a difference in starting in EC or Sport.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

That's interesting Snuke - it means I can't use the fact that the ECO hasn't been fixed to argue the tsb hasn't been applied though. I can't feel any difference in any mode actually, so I just ignore it.
Burger - sorry you're having such problems - good luck!

Interesting that your transmission was only $20k... Mine was $40k (including labour) with the trans cooler and pipe work. The inconsistency with their pricing and the unrealistic costs for these transmissions has me suspicious... It's almost like they're moving cash around for a tax dodge or something!

Mine suffered from rough shifts 1-3, 3-1 from new and also had metal in the oil pan. We had a relatively painless experience with the fix and warranty approval for ours which I think largely comes down to having a good dealer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

As far as warranty 'prices' are concerned, treat them with a grain of salt. It's a delaying tactic to make you feel guilty for making a claim. "We have to get high cost items specially approved, and that takes longer" was one excuse I got.
That's BS!! CJD warrants the part, and in turn claims it back from the manufacturer of the part.
Only 2 parties lose out in warranty claims:
1. The owner, who loses time, convenience and the cost of getting the vehicle to the dealer (if it's driveable).
2. The dealer only gets rebated labour at a lower rate and specific time allowance.
