Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Out of interest, our 2014 Laredo ecodiesel gets around 8.5 - 9.2/100 as per the medium range economy meter. The blue arc one with white dot sits up around ten but i've never really know what this one means.

Our driving is 4 days/week peak hour down the Mitchell freeway and into Subiaco (80K roundtrip with about half in bumper to bumper traffic) then suburban driving to shops etc on the weekend. DTE after a fill reads around 1,100.

Taking it down to Margaret river next week but will have a roof basket loaded with camping gear on, will see what the economy is like.

In my view, fuel economy is damn impressive for such a huge brick

When you say you're averaging 7.2 lt per 100. What is you average cruising speed? At 110 on the open road I can't get below about 8.7. Also can you tell me what Tyre pressures your EVIC is displaying.

Thanks

Hi, sorry for the late reply, holidays and all that...
I was keeping to the speed limits, maybe a couple of K's lower, just in case. The trip down I was getting 6.8 ( my mate said that was because it was down hill.. Ha ha.) speed limits between Bribie Island and Grafton have the full range from 50 to 110, when we arrived at our destination which was just south of Grafton, I had to do a couple of trips into town, so the consumption went up a bit to around 8, which of course came down to the average of 7.2 when we arrived home.
I used cruise control for most of the trip and since new Diesel Power Additive in the tank.
Air Con was on and tyre pressures are at 2.5 bar running on Michelins.
Apart from using a Ryco Air Filter everything else is standard. What I have found is that if I am on my own, travelling at a constant 95kmh, I can get the consumption down to 5.8 which is amazing. After getting the Jeep I did 3 full tanks to speedo checks and found the fuel read outs to be fairly accurate.

Seriously...your chasing 1.5L...I'd love to see the look on the dealer's face when you report that to them.

Fuel consumption is affected by so many variables.
Check with the other users if they got their figures with an empty or full stomach.

Ummm mine was almost always on a full stomach

Seriously though... My fuel consumption varies quite a bit from Open Road (Cruise Control) running to Around town (Sydney).

Tyre Pressure will have an effect on the Open road running... dependant on tyre as well...
Which ever way you look at it... these things are quite economical for a big lump of metal...

I am anywhere up to 11-12 in the Brisbane city, highway around 8-8.5, lifted oversized tyres etc, but I couldn't care really, V8 power with diesel economy..... Winning...

I think most of us are... although these days the torque from a big turbo'd Diesel compensates for raw horsepower... now if we could just get a decent burbling exhaust note from the Oil Burners
