1. The reliability report you refer to is for 2010 model year vehicles...

2. Jeeps are lumped together - the Wrangler models have had far more reliability issues than the Grand Cherokee, which pushes the rating down lower than it would be for just the Grand Cherokee.

3. The difference between the models rated higher on the list vs models rated lower is really not all that great. Toyota's have 112 "problems"/100 vehicles vs Jeep at 178. So I read that as each 2010 Toyota owner averaging one problem in the past year and 2010 Jeep owners averaging less than two. And, how are "problems" weighted in these surveys? Certainly there are instances of complicated hard-to-fix issues and others than can be taken care of in minutes.

4. I stopped basing my vehicle buying decisions on reliability reports a long time ago. MUCH more important to me is the styling, interior layout, drive comfort, overall fun factor. WHY give up all this for the small chance of a supposedly more reliable vehicle? Visit ANY vehicle message board Problems section and you will be reading for hours.

5. In the many decades I have been driving I would say that over 75% of the new vehicles I have bought have been on the lower end of the reliability surveys. And yet not a single one has ever been problematic enough to have gotten rid of it early, or to have not bought the same brand again.

Unless these mechanics/service manager have had years of experience working at a dealership that sells and services Jeep SRT's, I would take their "reliability" advice/opinions as totally worthless. And what is their experience level with the standard WK2 models?

The Jeep SRT is in its 9th model year, and I have followed message boards since before it was introduced. From I have seen the reliability has been great. If you take away the problems caused by mods (superchargers, nitrous, module reprogramming etc. etc.) the reliability has been quite high, especially considering how hard they are driven.

I've owned a 2006 Jeep SRT and a 2008 Jeep SRT. In the seven years of total ownership I have been to the dealer for repair a total of 2 times. Once for a steering column trim part, and the second time for a bad Cat converter (which happened after some hard driving through some very deep snow, although maybe a coincidence). A few weeks ago the cam sensor went haywire and I replaced it myself in a couple minutes, a $15 part.

I would read through the Jeep SRT related posts and form your own opinion as to how reliable the vehicles have been. I think that you will find that most owners feel that any issues they have add are negligible vs the overall positive ownership experience.

I'm just saying.
THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of SRT owners have been more than pleased with their purchase decision, and have enjoyed endless hours of driving pleasure. Personally, I would prefer to "go all funny in the wee wee" (lol) as opposed to driving a boring vehicle that would give me leg cramps. Looking at the dozens of new vehicles I have ever owned, the Jeep SRT is the ONLY one in the bunch that I have not become bored with after a year or two. Six years after the fact, I look forward to driving it each and every single day, and so does my wee wee!

While we are on the reliability topic, I had a 2008 Landcruiser Sahara V8 turbo diesel, over $100k new it had drivetrain/tail shaft problems and it eventually had to have the transmission replaced, then I had a 2010'Audi Q7 $110K on the road, the fuel rail split in the 1st month and was in the workshop for 2 weeks then the water pump/cooling system blew up and was off the road for a further month..

All the brands have issues, some deal with it better than others at the claim/repair stage.. Happy customer no whinge.. All I can say is always ensure you own a car under full factory warranty .. Then off load the bastard !

Milous,
I sincerely hope that Chrysler is paying you your worth. If you were my dealer, I'd be driving a Jeep now... This kind of service deserves some kind of medal.

I very much appreciate the time you put in here, as do many others.

Thanks

So, can anyone explain how their dealer got them an E number?

Cheers.
