Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Driver side seat on my overland is fading on the right side. Arrived at work and one of my colleagues told me that I had a black mark along my right shoulder. I thought I must have rubbed with something in the parking. After a few days, same happened again. I checked the seat and could see discoloured area about 4 x 4 inches.

Would the seat be replaced under warranty? There are only 32000 kms on the clock. I have never used any chemical on leather seats.

100% a warranty claim.

Head to NCAT if they give you any dramas.

Funny you mention this, obviously you have leather. i have the cloth seats in a 4x4 Laredo and my drivers seat has severely faded. Just had them shampooed to see if that would help but it hasn't made much different. I have a sunroof and just wondering whether the light has damaged them. regardless I'm in the process of making a warranty claim. Seat cloth or leather should last well in excess of 35000kms. This goes under both Jeep and NSW Stat Warranty, My drivers seat has also been collapsed since brand new and jeep refuse to repair it, another claim i am making to the NCAT. Being partially collapsed has caused lines and marks in the cloth seats that is now irreparable, not mentioning it being incredibly dangerous. So maybe if you have a sunroof, keep it closed if you park in the sun, even though the sunroofs are (or atleast should be) heavily uv and sun protected glass.

Keep me updated on how you go.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all

I am getting a warning that the FOB key battery is weak. I'm a bit surprised at the short life of the battery but was wondering what is the best way of getting the battery replaced? I presume it would cost an arm and a leg through the dealer. Is it simple to replace it myself? Are there any aftermarket placed you would recommend?

Cheers

You can easily replace it yourself - it is a standard button battery you can buy at the supermarket ( I got mine at bunnings)

Google how to open the case - heaps of videos will show you how. Takes 2 minutes if you are slow at the job.

That's not too bad.

Anyway my FOB went completely dead this morning so I replaced the battery myself. It only took a couple minutes, though there were moments of angst when prying the cover apart. It took a bit of force and at one stage I thought it was going to break.

Once removing the Emergency key, just use the tip of it to twist the two halves apart in the recess on to of the case.
The CR2032 comes out easily.
Mine is a Jan 14 build and I've not replaced them yet, but this will probably jinx me.

Any locksmith doing remotes will know how to change it.

The case takes a bit of pressure to clip it closed but you'll know when it's right.

Cheers

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My keyfob started playing up around the 2 year mark. I was getting intermittent failed entries at various doors, sometimes the "keyfob not detected' message on the dash. I replaced the battery around 2 months ago. It occurred again a couple of times in the last few weeks. It would open the door but not start the car, even where the FOB was placed on the dash sensor. It worked again when I walked away and returned to the car.

Today it went into Jeep for checking. They checked and said my keyfob was reporting a low voltage (2.9V). Hmmm, I checked it a few days ago and it showed 3.1V

They replaced the FOB battery free of charge. I will see how it goes.

The next time it occurs I have to see if it may relate to the TSB:

Mozzie, Did you test with a multi-meter or a battery tester?

The reason I ask is; a multi-meter will only read the voltage whereas as proper tester will put a load on the cell to test it's "working voltage"
