The reason I ask is; a multi-meter will only read the voltage whereas as proper tester will put a load on the cell to test it's "working voltage"
I understand what you are saying. Admittedly, it was a no-load test. This sometimes gives a quick indication. It was not loaded as the battery was bought new and assumed to have good remaining shelf-life.

We shall wait and see. I am still surprised that this began after 2 years. Fobs from other cars have given me much better life than this one.

Had the same issue arise on my 2013 My2014 Overland Diesel
Trip back from the Murray river and my transmission overheated twice.
Didn't realise until I floored it to overtake a truck.
Electronic Throttle needs attention warning came up, went into limp mode, and I had to pull over and turn car off. Restart fixed the transmission lock, but it happened again about 15 minutes later. Transmission over temp light came on, trans was at 133 degrees, engine light came on, and Throttle warning again.
I parked up and let it cool down for 20 minutes and then it was okay.
That was about 3 weeks ago at 97000kms.
- A little transmission service note. The book says service trans at 50000, but the dealer told me that it has been changed to 100000. Ok...he knows what he is on about-
The trans has been running at about 93 to 103 since then, and hard acceleration makes the car hesitate as if you have a huge load on behind.
Took it to the dealer yesterday for 100000km service and told them about trans overheat and Throttle warnings.
Went to pick it up last night as they said it was ready.
No trans service. No faults found.
Spoke to the service manager, and he told me they have changed the trans service schedule again...nice of them to tell us...
Asked him when it is now due, so he checked the servicing schedules.
Couldn't find trans service in the schedule all the way from 10000 to 200000 service....Bloody Hell....
They also said that there are no computer logs showing faults in the trans or the throttle. I showed them the pic I took of the fault on the Evic, and gave them the date...surprise surprise...the faults are actually logged.
The service manager offered to do some research, and get the car back when he had answers. Cool. Off I go. I love my Jeep.
Take off with a little bit of gusto to make sure all is good, and FFS my car is in Limp mode. Shite. Back inside. They still have my car, and I am looking for something else.
Love the car but the service and knowledge is attrocious.
N.B. the fault codes log at service yesterday was about 17 pages long, but my car is fine.
Sorry for the essay. Will update soon. Chester.

In regard to the low battery for the key fob. I kept getting that message for about a week then it went away.
It happened just after returning from a muddy 4x4 trip. Perhaps the sensor got dirty. 7 months later I haven't had the message come back or had to replace the battery.

Good luck with it, hope you get it sorted. Hopefully it's a simple fix, if not and it requires a replacement transmission, just as well it has happened inside your warranty... Otherwise you'd need to sell your left and right kidneys, liver, heart... Forget that, you'd just write it off and buy a new car... $40k for our replacement 8 Speed (thankfully we didn't have to pay)...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks DS84
I love my Jeep, but all of the recent negative feedback, and the crap after sales service and support from Jeep means this will be my first and last one.
Trans seems ok after service, noting that the service did not include filter change (filter is part of the oil pan apparently...around $1000 alone) so we will see how it goes. But they stiil have no information on when the 8 speed should actually be serviced.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Folks - need your combined advice!
I purchased a silver Dec 12 build JGC Diesel Limited off the dealers floor May 2013 after masses of trauma with my November 12 ordered red Limited ( cancelled the order in the end). This Dec12 build silver car has been just fantastic except needing the new Jeep customer help line in it's first week after the ACCC resolution of Chryslers behaviour to sort out the dealer. A transmission hose warranty ( potential fire)I was told to come in by Jeep for was going to be delayed 5 months for sourcing the hose- after ACCC/help line it was 2 days. I also found the dealers don't tell you what warranty fixes they are supposed to install
So now I am a month short of ending my warranty period. What items are there to watch out for? There is a bit if wear on the drivers seat leather, steering drifts left even at full wheel adjustment but dealer tells me this is designed into the car to avoid head on collisions. WHAT ELSE??

Air conditioner condensers seem to be a problem at the moment.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Is there a special phone number for the ACCC in relation to Jeep issues or do you just through the normal number.
Looks like I am going to go down this part. FCA are hopeless.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Forgot mention. AFTER I got a letter from Chrysler to front up for warranty recalls on the fuel pump relay ( stops the car dead) and leaky transmission hose which I reported ( potential fire), I booked the car in with the dealer for the work. When I picked it up at the end of the day no work had been done because the fuel pump relay was "6 weeks away" and the transmission hose was "5 months away- you can only get it in Detroit" . As soon as the ACCC undertaking was through and I called the CA Jeep help desk to complain- I got a call from the dealer THE NEXT DAY to say the parts would arrive in one more day ( to north Qld). all fixed well on second visit.
I just did the CA dealer feedback on 50k service last week ( months later). Dealer got a great wrap and then the question - would you recommend a Jeep to anyone ..............?
