Usual dealer BS. Most dealers don't have the equipment or ability to do a wheel alignment.

Spend the $70 or so and take to a Bob Jane or similar.

Bigskiddy.

Got the same Key Fob Battery Low warning the other day with the key in my pocket. Placed the key in centre console hole and no issues for the rest of the day. Returned to the pocket arrangement and again got the message. Changed the battery (easy as pie to do) no issues since.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

All.

I have recently noticed two potential issues witrh my nearly 3 year old jeep.

First is the harsh change at times from 3rd to 2nd on coasting up to the lights. Sometimes nothing other times a small nudge in my pants and occasionally a really kick in the rear during the change.

Second is a feeling of diff slip. I have the ORAII fitted and thus the ELSD. On moderate to hard acceleration I feel something odd. It could be described as what appears to be a slip in the diff, or a chatter in it or a mild vibration. Whatever, it's there and is annoying when it happens, and yes the diff oil has been changed by the stealer.

Any thoughts on the two above issues would be appreciated.

Regards

Adrian.

Adrian.

Had the downshift issue in early days but the updates have resolved my tranny complaints.
With regards the LSD. Toyota had issues years ago with the wrong diff oil being used in LSD's causing the disc plates within the diff to chatter. Don't know if Jeep Diffs are similar but think it would be wise to ask if the correct lubricant was used. Most dealerships service various makes of vehicles so any variety of oil could have been used. How many k's on your Jeep?

Diff chatter usually happens when turning, not when going straight.

Have had a MY14 Limited Diesel now for 2 years. Pretty happy with it - done around 30,000 Klm. The only real issue I have had is with the Diesel Particulate Filter. 3 times the car went into limp mode with no warning (only advising the DPF was 80% full). Strange that it usually happens not long after I have been driving at highway speeds for some time - ie. the DPF didn't automatically regen as I would have expected. Only last week it went into regen only a week after I had been out on the highway for 300 to 400 KLM. Wondering if there is an issue with the temp sensor in the DPF. Getting a service in a couple of weeks and will raise it with dealer.

Regens will only occur when the filter gets to a certain threshold, about 60% full. So you may have been 40-50% full when you did the 300-400km drive, then when you get back to driving in traffic it will climb to 60% and regen in certain conditions (doing certain speeds and engine temp).

If you didn't reach those conditions for a while a regen may not occur, but when it gets to 80%, you should get the message and the regen will occur at lower speeds and stop start traffic.

I have sometimes seen my filter level jump from mid 60% to 80% if I've been driving it a bit hard when the engine isn't warm, then the message comes up and it regens.

If you had RRT 14-104 applied then the limp mode issue should be resolved. There were situations where the car didn't go into regen at times it should have. Apparently it was misreading sensor output. This update fixed that.

Could it be this:

A small number of customers may experience the following condition:
**Bucking under hard acceleration.**

Could it be the traction control and or some wheel slip?

Or if that doesn't work, after two years of various attempts to align my left drift issue, I had my complete steering rack replaced under warranty for the same issue. A different car to drive now. Much more relaxing and tyres seem to still be wearing evenly.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Does anyone know if the sensors out of a set of 2012 wheels will work on the 2014 model?

Thanks Hutch

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

When I got my MY15 I swapped the wheels from my MY12 onto it. Tyre person said the senders would need to be reprogrammed - not sure if that's true but they stripped all the tyres and swapped the senders over being careful to refit front left with front left. Not sure if that is necessary but end result worked, so all good.
