Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi to all, I just had to add my update too...
The Jeep GC (diesel) is now reached its 3 yrs and just had the 50k done, all good and it has performed perfectly, over the warranty period the only faults were a leaking front drive boot, a cracked windscreen washer bottle and a cracked plastic handle on the pull out boot blind.
In the first year I had 2 regenerations at 80% full, and none since using a little 2/S oil in the fuel.
So all in all a great vehicle and I would be happy to buy another at some time in the future.
My only complaint is the cost of the replacement filters, but resolved by using Ryco products which my dealer is happy to fit.
We are off to Sydney tomorrow for a two week holiday (departing Bribie Island) so she will get a good run.
Cool weather here we come...

Thanks for your "report" Gforce;

I'm at 27k after 18 months and also have only seen two regens, i'm now using some Flaslube every second tank.

Enjoy you trip South and await a report on you break.

Safe & enjoyable Driving

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

After 4 years and 60,000km I sold my MY12 Laredo CRD. I really enjoyed driving it however it was time to move on due to tax reasons. The problems I had: many recalls / AC leak /steering wheel was never straight after many wheel alignments. Jeep was very comfortable for long trips however driving around city my kids keep getting motion sickness in back seats. I would definitely consider buying another jeep in few years time. I have moved on to MY16 turbo civic .

A turbo civic? I assume your kids are not going to grow.

Anyway - enjoy your new car.

Well it's not going to take any motion to make them sick any more

Joking joking... it doesn't matter what you drive as long as it does it for you. In all seriousness, what aspect of the car's handling (or whatever) do you reckon made them feel unwell? It's not like the suspension is soft, so I'm curious...

Cheers,
Steve

LOL... and you think you're going to help their motion sickness by buying a Campbell's Soup can on wheels?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm up for the 40k service shortly and have just found out that Bayford Jeep Hawthorn, down here in Vic, has closed down. Both the dealership and the service department are no more after two years of trading. Disappointing to say the least. I am now looking for another service provider. It's probably between Chadstone Jeep and Nunawading Jeep. I live in Hawthorn so not interested in driving miles to get it serviced. It's on a notated lease so need a service provider who will deal with them. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Been a very long time since I have posted on here, hope your Jeeps and you are all doing great, over the last 3 yrs I have had very few issues with mine.. Today we did a quick round trip to Ayers Rock. Just as we were coming through the entrance after paying another Jeep GC tucked in behind us and followed us to the base of The Rock. Low and behold it was forum member Andrew from SA. If either of us had been 15 secs slower or faster we would have missed each other.. Had a quick chat and had a great photo op for two BaaBaaa's to be together.. 😊.

My daughter also complains of motion sickness in the GC. She sits on a booster seat in the middle, I put it down to her being higher, therefor the movement going around corners etc is greater and I do find the suspension soft and bouncy. I was considering firmer shocks to control it better.

I also have issues with the driveline at low, bumper to bumper speeds, there's a clunk somewhere (I suspect diff lash) and the low speed shifts are 'bumpy' shin as well as being poor, contributes to a feeling of motion sickness.

Do you have standard suspension or QL? I have QL and find the ride pretty firm. My previous landcruiser had air suspension and you could tune how firm it was. The softest setting felt like you were on a boat, and we all felt sick. Firmer was better. I have a 7yo and 5yo, no motion sickness, but the 7yo just went from booster to none, and she struggles to see out the window, which isn't so good for motion sickness.
