"Local launch in early July" ??? If they wait to launch in July they won't sell to customers until late July.

I don't believe that. No dealers are going to wait 3months without GC to sell They will lose too many customers who won't wait. Hell, dealers are under stress anyway, 3months of no sales of their high end product would send some under.

No, this is more dis-information and smoke. Very poor indeed.

Stupidest decision ever made by Jeep Australia
It will only make our current models worth less in the market place

I truly believe that the people at Jeep Australia have no idea what so ever
Its just job to them, Jeep today toyota ford whatever tomorrow

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Early July fits with the current profile. Take Milous's intel on the current ship coming over - that ship would be what - 4 weeks away from docking (??)

That's May taken care of - then 1-2 weeks maybe in Australian compliance centres, then another week to be distributed to dealers and we are at the tail end of June. July would be no more than 10 days off - maybe 2 weeks off.

It fits.

Erina - where are you getting 3 months from? May 1 now. 60 days until July 1. 2 months - not 3.

The ship on the water now is due at dock may 20. I agree they should be at dealers by mid June.

But if they launch the model year in early July, they can't release stock until that day. So stock will have to be held at holding bays from late may until early July. Then they have to be transported to dealers who have to ramp up and pre-deliver so I guesstimate customers won't get cars till mid to late July.

As customers won't pay until delivery is imminent, no sales by dealers from now ( I believe they are out of stock of 2013 cars now ) until then. Near enough 3months.

And significantly it's after the end of financial year. So if the dealers have not hit the sales targets for the year then they are stuffed. No June sales to hit those targets. Somehow I don't think the dealers are going to be very happy

Maybe orders with deposits are considered sales but salesmen won't get paid commission until the dealers get paid. Salesmen have mortgages like the rest of us - I would not be happy at all.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Umm.. see your point. It depends on how they intend to handle the pre-orders. If for arguments sake, those vehicles hit Aust shores prior to launch, will they be released, money collected and owners take delivery prior to July. (?) Big question.

We will certainly not be happy to know that our Overland is sitting on Australian soil but will not be released to us because it's not July launch date. And I'm sure the dealer won't be happy with not receiving the $70k+ cheque from us either just because it's not July.

Ummm...

It is strange. I've been trying to work out if they really will have a gap. Usually I am pretty good at judging but this time I can't. It might be a possibility.

Release of the SRT and the trailhawk was held up last year - the cars sat in holding yards for months. So jeep aus have form in respect of delaying release.

True. But they had other models to sell. Did they give a reason what the SRT was held back last year?

Cheers.
Seaweed, did you upgrade by just purchasing membership at the Level 4 listed price, or did you upgrade via another method. I can only see the option to pay the new Level 4 fee. I'm wanting to get access to the Milous build sheets but can't do this from Level 3.

I am getting cynical as the years mount up. I suspect Jeep AU may well want to undermine Milous' attempts to help us. There are lots of Aussie Jeeps now made but only a handful of E numbers released. Milous' attempts to help are completely thwarted if their are no E numbers and Chrysler Au sure aren't eager to release them.

is this from the local news here or do you have more pearls for the AU folk?
This could be interesting. Thanks Robo_70. Hopefully Milous has more concrete information other than our local press which cannot be relied upon....and I do hope early July means that early customer orders will in fact be able to pick up their cars in early July.
