Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Something else to leep in mind regarding the sales launch date - these dates are usually conservative. At one time dealers here were told to expect deliveries around March/April. Yet vehicles will start hitting arriving this month. The "sales" launch dates are usually set to be when most of the dealers will have them in their showrooms (pipeline filled). Now it may not always work out that way, but that is typically the goal.

Working on your scenario above that would put March/April perhaps back into the equation. By the time they sit in quality control, shipping, customs, and arriving at dealers would fit in with June but more likely July which still fits in with the Melbourne international car show. But it could mean you will see them coming down that line in March as originally stated. We just might get our cars within the time frames we were told (June/July)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Milous,
reading back over your responses....like the one below:-
I am working on trying to confirm the launch date. I don't believe it will be as late as July as there are already a lot of 2014 Australian models scheduled for build.

The words" a lot of 2014 Australian models scheduled for build"
I am assuming these scheduled builds are to fill showroom floors. You will recall dealers needed to advise head office about what 2014 orders they had received. I can't see how they can act on those orders yet because people have ordered Overlands with some meaning an OVerland and others meaning a Summit. It also means the trims available would have to be adjusted. I cannot see how those "scheduled" builds could include customer orders until those colour/trim options are confirmed so by your words above I take it that "scheduled builds" must apply to showroom, testing, management cars etc.
Any clues on that one?

Worst part is the fact we are all constantly checking these forums multiple times a day. Need to see some action! Good to see a few of the americans are nearly getting their jeeps though

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Not meaning any disrespect to the "newbies" in this forum, but you need to take a very very deep breath and relax.
Milous would not have any information to ascertain the purpose, or the eventual owner of MY14 cars scheduled to be built, or even already built, which are destined for Australia. The way the system works is that all cars destined for Australia are recorded as having Jeep Aust as the owner, the only thing that changes is the disembarkment port. Dealers, or Customer's are not shown on the build sheet when it comes to Aust. I would wager every car being built now for Australia, will be going to HQ, to be used by press, staff, and experimentation etc. They may even be using them for build testing in our vast outback, or even beach driving to see if they have fixed the issues. I hope they have handheld GPS, as they would get lost if using the OEM ones.
In all fairness, Jeep Australia has not made any public announcement regarding the MY14, and all your knowledge of that model has come through the Forums. Had you not been reading here, you would have no idea that there is a new model in the pipeline, and as far as you are concerned, you would probably be quite happy with the models currently on display in the showrooms had you not visited the forums.
Also, you may find that these new models will need to be seen, and checked for Australian compliance, then they will decide on the packages which will be offered in Australia. Just because a model is available in the USA, does not mean the same model, and it's configeration, will be available here. Even with the MY13, there are significant differences between a US Overland, and an Australian Overland.
About the best you can do now, is approach a dealer, let them know you are itching to part with cash, and you want to order a car as soon as possible, which will be when they get notified what is available, what the cost is, and when you can expect delivery.
That date, which I am guessing, will not be before July, going by past trends.
In regard to the car being released at the Melbourne Motor Show, don't count on it. I have not seen Chrysler/Jeep at that show for years.

This is how I feel. I am I distribution and we do not make any announcements on our products or changes until a product has actually shipped.
There are too many possible hiccups until an item actually ships and you know when you really have it coming. Now I expect this to be quite different for car deliveries and announcements will be made earlier, but I can understand the lack of official info. Hell the US does not still have all official info so why would we?
As we have only just entered 2013, most people will sure as hell not be expecting to be hearing news about a 2014 model.
I would like to know all info now, but in reality it is not going to help me until there are firm details on offer from Jeep Aus, including an accurate supply time line.
Getting our panties in a twist over info that is not currently available but will come in a timely and no do doubt planned manner is a waist of energy.

Jeep Aus are still showing 2012 as the current model, let alone MY 2013 so expecting news from them about 2014 is crazy.

I understand you but I actually purchased my vehicle in Early May 2012 and I still haven't got it so I am getting a little impatient.

I am in a similar boat. First ordered an MY12 Overland in March 2012 - the order was stuffed up by the dealer (wrong colour) - ended up as a MY13 which arrived in October 2012 which I knocked back to wait for the 'soon to be arriving' MY14.

So patience!

Only a little impatient, if I had not been given a decent timeline, even a very very long one I would be pissed.
Did they tell you when you should be getting it?
