Good warning Sanddune, without an E number anything can happen.

Webber, You might have some competition for the longest wait for a new car.

Even with an E number, there is no guarantee that the order placed with the factory, is what you ordered.
There are more and more customers finding that the detail on the build sheet is not what they requested.
The breakdown in communication is between dealers and Jeep Aust. Both appear to be haphazzard in their approach to detail.
The most common issue is that when the dealer places an order, presuming he has got the details correct, Jeep Aust tell him that they have a similar specification vehicle in pre-production, but something is different. For example, the interior may be a different colour. The dealer asks can it be changed, and Melb say yes. However, Melb does nothing about changing that component, and the dealer does not confirm in writing. Totally amateurish operation.

Paige,

My dealer says he has been given a six digit body number for my GJC but no E number. Foes that sound right?

Me thinks Jeep Australia will not release the order E number is simply an effort of keeping customers in the dark.

I think they don't like how customers are getting better more up to date information from this site then relying on JA

They have learnt nothing

The problem I have with the System is that when I signed my Purchase Order (Contract) mid November, the Order was on the current computerised Form ie; a MY12/13 vehicle. It was overwritten MY14 by hand.
Obviously, the MY14 has other options and colours over and above the previous model.

So, when my Order was supposedly put in March, no offer was made for me to see the specs on what I had ordered even tho I requested it and asked what was the difference between the old and new JGC. (I know the differences myself but wanted confirmation on what I was in fact getting).

Hassled the dealer several times and nothing forthcoming.

So I have grave fears now that a so far, 7 month wait might turn into a longer wait if the car as ordered is not what I in fact ordered.

As mentioned before Veronica Johns had better iron the system out or she might beat her predecessor to the vacant Mururoa Atoll Chrysler/Fiat job.

I agree, the excuse I was given that the ex-employee got it wrong when he entered the interior colour onto a spread sheet does not sound true to me, sounds more likely that my order was not processed and they tried to fob me off with a stock order. Now I have to wait even longer

No offence Paige, but it appears that the information regarding diesels is incorrect. Diesels are being produced for Australia whilst the roll out date in the USA has been delayed. It appears as if the export market is getting preference which I believe won't last once they roll out the diesel in the USA. This makes me believe that getting the orders right for the CRD is imperative because if they aren't right early, there will be huge delays as a consequence.

I for one am not holding my breath....
I hope I'm wrong and Johns sorts things out, but my experience is that I wrote to her when the recovery hook issue was in full swing however she did not bother to reply. So CJD got to talk to Dept Fair Trading instead.

I tend to agree. The export market for CRD is traditionally strong, however the USA domestic market is less so. CJD would be looking at markets where they can get a premium profit for the CRD - i.e. Australia where it is well know that we pay over the odds for cars compared to USA.

No guarantee, but at least with the actual details in hand you can start to deal with the problem months out rather than a couple of weeks or days out from receiving it.

Hi Seaweed, Now this is a coincidence, my order is exact same as yours, Cherry Red, Beige interior, Diesel, Overland.

And the same excuse "' Ex employee to blame""

Starting to sound more like a conspiracy than a stuff up.

Forgot to mention that they offered me a choice of 4 MY13 GC's they have in stock if I didn't want to wait till October. No thanks
