Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Flipper glass is the top half of the tailgate door. In past models, this has been able to be opened independently of the whole of the tailgate door.

The rear glass that opens on its own instead of opening the whole tail gate

Sorry, just having a small shot at Bretto.
We spent pages and pages on this forum months ago talking about the flipper glass which this model did not get.
The flipper glass is the rear window. It used to be able to be opened to place goods in the back without lifting the tail gate. That convenience has now been removed with the MY14.

It was a witty comment

Well played

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

oh, I just want to add something.
I LUUUUUUV Chrysler Australia.
Head Office had the decency to give me a call today and cleared up a few points for me including why they are not issueing E numbers. Believe it or not guys, they ARE trying to do the right thing by us. I do not know whether I am at Liberty to discuss that phone conversation but my faith in Chrysler Aust. has somewhat been restored. What I can say is that I was told that they have and am investing a lot of money in time with staff training to ensure that their "after sales" service is much improved to support the great car they know they now have. I don't think I am speaking to much out of order if I also state that they are trying to move as fast as they can to officially launch this car but cannot do so until all dealers Australia wide have some stock. I have to agree that that is only fair and reasonable. Imagine an official release when some dealers have no cars and no training re this MY14. If Chrysler Aust. do in fact improve their customer service then they have the car to wipe away their competition......and thankyou Chrysler Australia for having the decency to respond to me.

Go here:

https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage

Type in your VIN as the cargo ID and voilą, you'll have the shipping details.
That site isn't updated all that frequently, so to track the ship you can use www.marinetraffic.com and type in the name of the ship. It will show a location every now and again, when it's near to a port.

Enjoy torturing yourself by tracking the ship. I checked it like 10 times a day for weeks.

May I ask, why did they call you? Had you contacted them often?

And of course they expect you to gossip what they told you, it's a given! They wouldn't say anything they didn't want getting out lol

On models prior to the upcoming '14, the glass window in the tailgate could open upwards, separately to the tailgate itself. This can be very handy at times when you just need to grab something quickly from the back. The new model has done away with this feature.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

So webber, how do you contact with someone effective at Chrysler Australia? My car completed build April 6 th and has been stuck in "inspection" ever since. The dealer had told me it was at the port but now says they are all being held at the factory so as not to appear before the release. Milous says there are already 1000 on ship with a ship a week continuing. I ordered December 1 and some on ship or at the port were ordered 5 months later.
This is simply appalling.

Yoda, Jeep Aust will not be able to assist with finding why your car never got past Inspection. The dealer, is simply guessing, based on the estimated time of delivery he received when obtaining the E number.
You need a person in Detroit factory to chase it down.
If Milous cannot get any info, then you have no hope.
Could be the car got the shaft due to major issues, and another car was built. It is hard to know. I can't say I have seen a car disappear at that stage of the build. I have certainly seen them disappear later.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Bretto & Yarda.
I have already said too much. I only posted because I now know that Chrysler Aust. ARE trying to make it happen. A lot of organising obviously has to go on behind the scenes. I made the contact. With the right contact you may well get a response. What I can say is, and I am referring to Victoria, your dealer knows who to speak to if they want to. I say that because I know Victorian Sales Managers would talk to this person on a regular basis. I don't know about cars disappearing but the tracking process is their. It is just being withheld from public viewing by witholding E numbers. Chrysler Australia just want you to get accurate information so you have to get your dealer to work for you. I mean that is their job and they could push from their end if they really wanted to.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

AllyPally and webber, thank you for your helpful and candid comments.
I am off to visit the dealer again today as a last chance before forking up the extra $50K to buy a Range Rover Sport which I am not excited about as I was with the Jeep- though maybe if the dealer will have a go we might just order another Jeep and find a way to get it through, or maybe find one not yet allocated to a customer. my dealer had the E number at time of Chrysler Australia order in February, but I didn't get it till April. I ordered and paid the deposit December 1, so it has been a VERY long saga.
