Seriously though, your plight is appalling too and I do hope it can be resolved for you soon. This is still going to be a long, long few weeks of waiting. Hang in there.
Yeah I get that, and mostly don't let it get to me .. Just having a big kid spoilt brat moment

It will be all worth it .. Just some return communication in the meantime would be nice haha

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Here is my 2cents worth.
I agree that Jeep Aust would wish to sell their existing stock prior to any new MY14's arriving. However, that comes down to both planning the phaseout, and ensuring dealers have adequate cars to sell. I can't imagine a dealership having no stock to sell, if Jeep Aust are denying them becuase they have a few cars left at other dealerships, and continue to stay in business. The sales teams work on conmmission after all.
However, knowing that some dealers are out of stock, it would seem logical to announce what is coming mid year, give out the specifications and prices, and announce that orders are being taken, and when delivery can be expected on those orders.
I can also understand why Jeep Aust do not wish to release E numbers, because "a little knowledge" by the customer, can cause them frustration when they see the car held up for no obvious reason, or continual questions to the dealerships. Had numbers not be issued, and no internet knowledge available, we would be none the wiser.
However, having said all of that, Jeep Aust need to wake up, and understand that the average buyer does in fact have access to the internet, can see what is occurring in the world, and that information and experiences are now commonly shared. They appear to not accept that fact, and have an approach which is "bury the head in the sand, and deny everything" That may have worked in the 20th century for some manufacturers, but not today, and many of those manufacturers are now obsolete.

Hello Everyone,

To take your mind off the problems we are having with information, I came across this set of running boards for a GC and they don't look to bad.

Here is the Ebay link:

Jeep Grand Cherokee Transcender Running Boards Side Steps 2011 2012 | eBay

I have also attached some images.

Webber, they might look good on your 2014 White GC and seeing you like chrome....?

Enjoy and regards..................JosephR

Thanks Joseph, they do look good but would not buy without actually seeing in the flesh. Do intend getting running boards so must investigate this further. I think it may be a little cheeky to expect my Jeep dealer to fit a non mopar accessory though....and Yep, I am rather "blingy".

Access it, yes.
No how to use it to find out more than what they are specifically looking for, no.
That is to say, that unless someone is intentionally looking for an update rather than what they saw at the dealers ship, they just wont know.

I am in importing & distribution, we do the same thing. We don’t announce or mention anything to our dealers until the product is actually on the water.
It can drive them crazy and make our sales people look stupid sometimes because the dealers ask them about products they see on the web that we haven’t informed them about.
But we don’t want wasted focus from anyone on items they can’t supply.
We don’t make press releases until the products are actually in our hands and can supply our dealer network. It makes no sense spending time and money to promote something you can’t supply.
We see how stupid it looks with those blog cut and pastes, so it would look all the more stupid to do it on a larger and more expensive scale.
Holden did NOT want to launch their new Commodore when they did, as they are still so far from launching it, but were pushed into the situation because the US started promoting it as a Pace car.
Chrysler Aus has made the decision to not do this, and fair enough.

Saying things on JG aren’t true is idiotic, not supplying requested info in regards to an order when they can is also frustrating.
But remember guys, we are the thin edge of the wedge. Most consumers don’t investigate enough to know about new models, see that brilliantly idiotic lawsuit thread as a prime example.
So for most consumers, the lack of info is irrelevant. If they can walk into a dealer and get a car today, most will be super happy, even when a new one releases soon.
Snuke, I would have agreed with you five years ago, but the circumstances today are different. Information management will be a future requirement as more and more people are becoming knowledge savvy and growth is exponential. I am in Procurement and regularly deal with sales people. I can comfortably say the ones that are successful are the ones that share information. So give it a year or two and sales figures will be dependant on the salesmans ability to work with the market, not avoid it.

My SRT build sheet had this listed:
LMQS Adaptive Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps

I know it's not an overland nor summit, but it is an Aussie spec car, so there might be hope for some other models to have it too.

We know your Summit has adaptive headlights. We know our Overland has picked up almost all of the added features on your Summit. Are you in a position to know if any of our Australian Grand Cherokee models will in fact have "forward adaptive headlights"?
As in my other post, my SRT build sheet has adaptive bi-xenon HID headlights included, so it would appear that some Aussie spec cars will get adaptive headlights.

Thanks gb-australia. You are most fortunate to have that feature...great.
We are not getting a Summit but they are loading Summit features onto our Overland that is not standard on the US Overland. They may well be available options on the US Overland but they are not automatically included as in the case of the Australian Overland.

That is the reason why I am having difficulty interpreting Milous' reply posted below:-

For example, I think Advanced Tech Group is standard on our Overland but an option on the US model. What I am trying to find out is could the Aussie Jeep HQ boys requested a standand spec on our AU Overland to have "adaptive headlights" even though the US Overland does not have this option. Any chance of looking into that Milous?

If our cars aren't 'ordered just for us' and orders are being best matched up with bulk stock that was ordered, then theoretically I would be able to change my colour/leather colour this late into the game?

Do you think thats right? I think they must be specific customer orders. That's why Milous needs the E number and the date we ordered it etc so he can track it.
I think they are made to our request BUT if something goes wrong or a dealer makes a blue they try and cover it up or remedy the problem behind the scenes by trying to match the original requested order with a bulk stock vehicle to get themselves out of trouble.
I am sure Milous can confirm how it works.
