Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks for all the info guys, this thread has been a very long but informative read following the tracking.

As it's getting closer I should get moving and order rather than relying on launch stock, just don't like the feeling of being powerless with no bargaining room and a trade in to make it more complicated.

Does anyone have a dealer in Melbourne that they have had good experiences with?

Please PM me if you don't want to make public comment.

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just a point of interest.
If Jeep Australia are advertising pricing on their website, then in theory they cannot sell at higher prices. Even though the MY year may change. Those prices are the at point of sale prices, not delivery date prices. At the moment they are quoting "Drive Away". So any dealer who says that the price will go up $1,000 for a MY14 is breaking the law.

Nice try ally, but different models can have different prices even if they are manufactured in the same year.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Melbourne-ites. The Oberon will arrive tomorrow morning at 10:00 am!!

My maths may not be the best but the ships' draught has changed from 9.3 m, before unloading at Newcastle, to 9.1 m after unloading - a change of 200 cm. Now when you calculate the length (232m) x breadth (32m) of the Oberon x the displacement (0.2m), it roughly calculates to be about 1,484.8 tonnes lighter. Now divide this by say 2.2 tonnes per JGC, then it means that about 675 JGC were delivered to Newcastle. Is that consistent with our current intelligence reports?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I heard from a reliable 3rd party that Stella McCauley, who is head of Ordering and allocation of vehicle stock to the Fiat Chrysler Group dealer network, said that all E numbers allocated thus for are incorrect and unreliable as none have been issued from her department..

Also been told to keep our ears and eyes open for the JGC release in 2 weeks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

By the way have you noticed that, if you change the postcode around Sydney on the Grand Cherokee Pricing, you will have a very different delivery charge for the JGC from $0 to $2,495 between dealers?? It certainly makes a difference!!!

That is one hell of a range. From memory my quote was around the $1800 mark for dealer delivery. Normally I think that charge is a ripoff but for a car transported overseas, I can see how a good clean and detail etc is required. Mind you, when you can get a car professionally detailed for a couple of hundred, charges in the thousands are still too high. I will be insisting on a full tank of prem unleaded on delivery.

Which reminds me of a question - all you existing 6.4l owners out there're. Which octane fuel do you use? Do you need 98 prem or is 95 reg ok? How does the engine handle Eco 90. ??

These ships do not only carry Jeeps. They can carry 6,000 cars, so there would have been other makes or models on that boat.
