And if it is true i would suggest it's to cover up liability and blame when they re allocate ordered stock and a sh.t storm breaks ??

Oh this is like playing cluedo lol

Normally dealers when selling a car offer as a service the fact that they can track the car for the client and they offer that they will keep you informed.....but, once the contract is signed the reality is complete silence.
If they miss out on a sale to another dealer it will hurt them. The problem is you cannot be sure they have them ordered without the number. If I was ordering one today I would make it a condition of sale that I received an E number within 30 days of an order being placed.
If everyone was to do this to dealers they will understand that we know an order is not placed until the E number is confirmed from Jeep AU. Again this is how we make them provide you all with the service levels you deserve.
Sitting back and waiting to see if you get a car is bullshit. I was totally jerked around when I ordered and it was only that I am a PIA and will not just sit by and wait. If I had I would have waited 4 more months for my car and it would have been the wrong colour.

The ONLY way this is going to get sorted is if people start demanding their E numbers as this is the only way you can be sure you have a car allocated.

hi guys, love to see the passion for jgc that comes through in the way people share their knowledge and indeed encourage each other especially during this difficult time of being seriously jerked around by everyone from the parent company down to the dealers themselves. As l have said before l will be a first time buyer as l have come to the conclusion that the my14 is the way to go, but l simply cannot understand how they can sit back and rely soley on the good rep of the vehicle and think that people will just let all this arrogant behavior of treating potential customers so dismissivly slide, isn't it enough suffering to see what the US market is paying compared to AUS when our dollar has been so strong against the green back,to hear reviewers on youtube say about the fully spec summit, " yes it's expensive at $51,000 but it's worth it " oh man that's painful.

I agree, but what are we to do? Boycott buying a JGC? All that will do is limit the number or worse, they would stop importing. We do get ripped of here in Australia, I can understand the added cost of shipment, I'd love to know how much import tax we pay on one, then Luxury car tax, then stamp duty, then dealer delivery, lets not forget rego.....
I think we're all lucky we live in Australia, sure its not the cheapest place in the world, but I've been lucky enough to see quite a few places, and let me assure you all, we have got it pretty good. Great counrty, great people (well most of them), great lives, and great places to enjoy our JGC's!

got to agree with you on being in the 'lucky country' just a shame that the some what isolated nature of our beautiful country is a blessing and a curse at times. and yes jeep are in the box seat as far as leaving us dangling but it's just sooo frustrating especially when we in the 'lucky country' are all about being fair dinkum

Great country
Bad government
Too many levlies taxes on cost charges and no real support from the ACCC either and people like the dealers and JA know and bank on that

I don't know how much of it is BS but the numbers I got from the novated lease company for a GC based on being $74k is:

Base price. $59500
GST. $6150
Luxury Tax. $3053
Rego & CTP $1000
Stamp Duty. $2302

As I said don't know how accurate these are.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I think what you need to do, to calc what a car is actually costing is
a. Look at the price in the originating country, and convert to AUD$
b. add the costs of shipping
c. add the import duty. I think this is around 5%
d. add handling chages
That should give you a estimated AUD$ showroom price.

You're missing all the extra costs in actually creating an Australian complaint car and doing business in Aus vs the US.
As Milous has said frequently, it is very odd to have those two Summits shipped in due to the massive expense of getting the cars certified.
