As Milous has said frequently, it is very odd to have those two Summits shipped in due to the massive expense of getting the cars certified.
There is also the issue of exchange hedging so the can avoid price fluctuations.

That would be considered part of (a). The cost of the car.

i.e. If an Overland is built in the US, and optioned in the same spec as the Aussie car.
If you wished to simplify, you could base an Aussie Overland as a US Summit. It would give you a basis of the calculations.

No, this would cover the costs of the US car, not all of the extra costs associated in testing and changing it to be Aus compliant.
The simple thing of the time and tooling associated with building a RHD variant, crash testing etc.. etc....
These are overheads associated with particular markets, not a US build.
Then you have the added sting of those costs being distributed across a comparatively tiny market.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

You cannot justify the selling price of the car in comparison to the USA.
Jeep AU will sell it for what the market dictates for its competition. They are in a great position as it has the offroad ability and pricing of a Prado and the luxuries of a Euro.
Jeep are also having no issues getting sales, the the car must be priced about what the market thinks it is worth.
I myself was happy to pay $76k for my car as nothing came close for value and features.

I agree. On one hand 90 K for a JGC is expensive but give me an alternative to the SRT that can compete on features and performance for anything near the price. I don't know of any alternative.

A 5 year old Mercedes 63 or X5M will compete on performance but have outdated electronics. Jeep has a winning combination right now and they will sell all cars for as much as they can. Would not expect anything else.

Welcome to the Waiting Post TC0000.

And did your dealer say that it was a MY14 or a MY15 model you will be getting I wonder?
Let us know how the dealer explained it all to you and did he fill out a Jeep MY14 Order Form?

Sorry for being so sceptical TC0000, (not intended for you by the way) but there are a great many of us on this site who have been used and abused and lied to by the System
(read Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep/Dodge/Ram/Alpha Romeo Aust or whover theyre called this week) about the mere existence of the Jeep Grand Cherokee MY14 that Jeep Garage Members Australia are now joking (half seriously) about waiting for the MY15 model to arrive and bypass the MY14.

So keep watching this thread for further developments (maybe)

How is it that no one has seen 14 JGC yet I drove past Oberon when it was docked in Brisbane to get first photo and could not see even one. Now that the ship has visited several ports lets see if someone spots the vehicles or is some one just pulling our chain. By the way the IPad app is great thanks for the heads up.

Nobody actually confirmed that the Oberon was carrying any JGC's. Purely speculation.
