Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just curious, has anyone been able to actually order anything yet, that has something confirmed by Jeep Australia?

I'm still struggling to get a clear word from my dealer. I popped in there today, and he showed me an order list that was dated 22-feb. It showed various SRT options, and sepia was listed as TBA. He said if I tried to order the Sepia, it would just get rejected right now. Also something that concerns me is that the optional (old style) wheels aren't listed anywhere. I was hoping to get the black chrome wheels, but it doesn't appear to be available to us. The salesman mentioned that I could order a Vapor, which has everything I want, except the sepia interior. This is the first time I've heard of a Vapor edition for the MY14. Strongly considering calling some other dealers right now to see what they say, see if I can work out truths and mis-truths in what I'm being told.

I know of three of us in Melb with orders but not with a Jeep Aust "E number".

I suspect we have orders for dealer stock, or stock that has been pre ordered/allocated to the dealers. Am expecting an E number ( Same as VON) in the next 2-4 weeks.
Local ordering still remains a bit of a mystery but the dealers are ensuring us there are vehicles on the way.
March build/july delivery.
I'm led to believe the wait is already out to August now.

PS> you do need to do a bit of ground work to find an decent dealer !

I think you'll find the dealers are as 'in the dark' as we are. In fact I'm sure we know far more thanks to this forum, so any story we get from our dealers must be taken with a grain of salt in the scheme of things..
.. If we have to wait till June/July might as well go the whole hog and pre-order the new MY15 .... I hear they will be something else again. ..

You got anything on these yet Milous?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

G'day Rizzuto, Put my order in for a MY14 Laredo CRD back in November. Dealer was Frankston Jeep. Obviously the order note was on the MY13 because the computer wasnt configured for the MY14 yet. The MY14 was notated by hand on the Contract.
I pestered the dealer after the Detroit Motor Show release last month. Finally, last week he said the ORDER was put through and authorised by Chrylser/Fiat/Jeep aust whoever they are this week.
I asked him what about the options that are different on the MY14 against the My13 model (and there are some) His reply was that no options are available with the base Laredo. (except I have the Quadralift, leather ,Sunroof, towkit etc coming) Apart from that the Laredo will be a Henry Ford model, any colour so long as its black approach.
I then asked him to provide the VIN/VON number, (not that Im a suspicious bloke mind you) and he replied that it would take about a month to provide that. hmmmm.
In summary, in that dealers words, Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep/dodge etc have authorised the MY14 to begin.

BUT, why is the JEEP AUST website Grand Cherokee | Diesel, Laredo, Limited, Overland, 2012 still advertising the 2012 Grand Cherokee still?????
No mention of the MY14 JGC at all. At least, take a leaf out of JEEP USA and start advertising the MY14 JGC alongside the JGC MY13 so comparisons can be made.
We can only wait and wait and wait and......................

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

G'day Hymer, I'm in the same boat, ordered MY13 in Oct changed it to the 14 in Nov, paid 1k deposit. Ordered Laredo with QL, tow kit, Off Road kit. Pretty basic specs, but can't get confirmation these options will still be available on Laredo.

No point stressing out about it, but can't understand why Jeep are so secretive ... After all I think they will expect me to settle the balance on delivery. My dealer is Tynans of Sydney.

I'm sure you will love your Jeep when it arrives, but ordering sight unseen? I think you are very brave.

Gents.. This should excite you. 0-100 in 7.77 sec real world, so it looks like the 8spd knocks nearly half a second off. now on par with Q7 and X5

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just got a call from my salesman. Apparently my order for an SRT with Sepia interior has been accepted by Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep Australia, with an april build schedule. I have very little faith in this being anywhere near firm, or even that it exists. We still have no pricing, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. The initial order is pretty useless now as it makes no mention of the vehicle I'm actually now ordering, so at least I have an easy out there if the prices go up too much.

You should at least have a order from the dealer stipulating what it is they have actually ordered. It could be that they placed an order for a Laredo. Don't for a minute think that could not happen. Unlikely, but has happened in the past, that orders get screwed up between the customer and the build.
When the order has been accepted by Jeep (USA) they should be able to supply you with a "E Number". With the E number, you will be able to track the build, from scheduling, to loading onto the ship.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

think there is 4-5 here waiting on E Number but seems the dealers have been communicating about orders so thats a good sign. ( as opposed to just trying to deny it and sell an MY13)
