I'm waiting til I can see one in the flesh so I know what I'm getting before I part with any of my cash.
This is what is looks like. This is the colour and interior I hope to receive in June or July at the latest.

You may also have a half decent car to drive around in at the present time which means waiting is not a problem. I only have a little butter box to drive around in as a stop gap so we don't venture too far from home. The idea of ordering early with most persons on this site was to get a car around June/July which is what Chrysler Australia have been indicating since late last year and this appears to be what will actually come to pass. The frustration has not so much been the wait...it has been the wait IN A TOTAL VACUUM OF KNOWLEDGE which is the poor part. I cannot see how a little "working with the customer" could do any harm. They may deny it but they have known for months and months exactly what they are getting for Australia. MILOUS has had the "spec" sheets on these Aussie build cars for months now but Chrysler Australia has been in complete denial.

For those who wait till the official release that is fine. If you want something off the floor your wait may not be too long but for everyone else the wait could still be 3 to 6 months from ordering. If you have a decent car NOW then I can fully understand that but if you are currently driving around in a "death trap" then I beg to differ.

I know you want to see one in the "flesh" but many of us already love the MY11 to My13 and would have purchased that. The MY14 is only better so if you were going to buy the earlier model I cannot see why you need to see it in the "flesh"....but having said that, we are all different.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

While I am ranting and raving if you want my recommendation on a good dealer in Melbourne then PM me. Unfortunately, it is unlikely you will be offerred my price because the dealer regrets his offer to me but IS honouring it. Well worth approaching for a price though while you are shopping around. Please don't ask my price. I have been sworn to secrecy...ha, ha. The more important thing is the dealer is a really nice guy. Very approachable....and nice helpful people should be recommended to others. Hopefully that would be one small step to improving the perceptions of people working in this industry who currently languish at the bottom of the "ethics" ratings.

Spot on Webber... I have never driven a JGC in my life but I don't consider myself silly. I have read about every review out there about the MY13 and MY14 JGC. I am yet to find a negative one. I plan on ordering one next week, and lets face it what does a test drive prove. Well I drove it 5 KMs and it was good/bad. Now if you could test drive a car for 10000 KMs then may be it would be worth it. Personally test drives are pretty pointless when you can Google it.

I am more interested in the review of a professional test driver too...and I too have read every possible review out their and they are 99% positive. To be quite frank, a test drive would prove nothing to me but professionals are comparing similar class vehicles constantly and know exactly what to look for...and by far the majority if not all class this vehicle as the best JCG ever and quite likely superior to all competitors in its class. Some reviewers add the disclaimer that you may do better with this make or that but for another $30 to $70 Grand.

I certainly don't consider myself silly or a risk taker.
A year or so ago I ordered a new SZ territory for my wife to replace her SY territory sight unseen
Yes, it had received an interior update, exterior styling refresh, new transmission and a new entertainment system interface (sounding familiar) but it still looks, drives, and handles like a Ford Territory.
I have driven the current model JGC and look forward to owning the 2014 JGC with an updated interior / exterior, new transmission and infotainment system.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hey guys,

I felt like someone should post a happy 2014 purchasing experience as I have had a great run & it looks like I will have it a month before the dealer indicated.

I think the best thing is to find a dealer you trust 100%.. This GC is my third Jeep & my second brand new one... My first new one was a JK wrangler which went back to the dealer over 40 times in the first two years & the first fault was 1000k's into owning it and it was off the road for 3 months when the DPF stuffed up... Now at the start of owning it I said I would never get another Jeep and they are no good. All the standard tanty rant stuff.. However after many heated arguments with Jeep Aus & dealer + starting legal action against the dealer twice I got my emotions out of it...

In the end I have a great JK CRD with heaps of mods that now after 2 years is SOLID!!.... I was so happy with the dealer that I placed the order for the new 2014 Overland... Now I placed this order March, when I found out about tracking I contacted my dealer and within the day I had my "E" Number... I deal with the dealer manager & a great salesman... So all I can say is the more Jeeps you buy the better you will know your dealership & that is key.. I have been so happy with the ease of this purchase, I couldn't have had it any easier..

Also trust me I'm waiting white knuckled like the rest of you for this Jeep as I have had to give my JK to my wife and ride a 50cc scooter until it turns up... To give you some incite into this my last bike was a 1500CC & I'm 6.2 and 125kg's.. So a scooter is the last thing I want to be on!

Good luck to all of you having issues & I know better then most how bad it can get!..

Hey Reg,

how long have you been monitoring the activity. Not too long methinks.
And could you put a definition on your word "shortly"?

Ive had my order in since November (last year that is) and Ive never heard a word about the MY14 from the salesman, the dealer, or the Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat/Dodge/Ram/Alpha Romeo Aust (or whatever theyre called this week) organisation.

The only reliable and tangible information on the MY14 Grand Cherokee
is that which has come from this Forum and Milous and his Mates over there.

Not a scrap of info from the above so called "management" about the vehicle that theyve taken money from people to sell to. AND when they slowly start to drip feed any info through back page blog sites on their website, its still full of cut and paste crap thats been pinched from the USA website such as "The 2014 Grand Cherokee features an all new EcoDiesel engine. This 3.0 litre, V6 engine delivers clean diesel technology that generates reduced carbon dioxide emissions. You'll get best in class kms combined with a smaller carbon footprint than comparable SUVs. The Grand Cherokee with EcoDiesel engine gets up to 7.8 litres per 100 kms"

What is so new about the Diesel in the Grand Cherokee?????

AND what about this piece of misleading information..............

"Are you ready to take a look at the new 2014 Grand Cherokee? Contact your local Jeep dealer today!"

Many Jeep dealers today are even denying the MY14 existence and others are saying no 8 speed auto with the diesels.

So forgive me if I'm sceptical about the phrase "there is some "news" to come out shortly on pricing" from a person such as yourself who has posted for the first time, m8.

Name names and dates and be CREDIBLE when you make ambiguous statements like that. Statements of FACT are the only ones that should be placed here. We've had too much fallacy from the Jeep Aust organisation now.

I state again, this has to be the worst managed new car release I have ever witnessed bar none. I'm sure I'm not alone in this point of view.

Whilst we all love the car, is anyone prepared to let it go and walk away if the price increase is above nominal?
I'm thinking with the supply in demand and such a big ordering list are they going to be greedy and increase the original intended price increase because they can?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Lets try to put some rationale here.
All car manufacturers change their model year annually. In Europe and America, this is usually in May, and is defined by a "MYnn" where nn refers to the fiscal year model. Many times, changes between MY years are miniscule, and dont even warrant a mention. Sometimes they will be confined to interior or exterior colours. Many manufacturers take this opportunity to apply fixes to hardware, which they have determined have been an issue.
In regard to the Grand Cherokee, the car is still a WK series, and will remain that series for a few years now.
So, the question, is Jeep obliged to tell you that the MYxx has changed?
In this case, since the changes are a little extroadinary, I believe the answer to that is yes.
Especially when you place an order, the delivery is not expected for several months, I believe the dealer is morally responsible to inform you that at the time of expected delivery, the car you see on their website, and brochures would not be available. To date, as far as I can determine, Jeep Australia are morally wrong.

I, for one, am certainly prepared to walk away if I feel I am being gouged. I am hopeful that the bulk buy thread will give some tangible results with a dealer or two prepared to discount for a few customers.

RRP is just cream for no effort to the dealers and they certainly have some scope to negotiate. High early demand may lead some to try and make extraordinary profits but I wont be paying it. As someone said earlier ( sorry, have not gone back to look for the quote ) my current car is quite serviceable and there is no urgency to change. I have been waiting 6 months, maybe I will wait another 6 until the end of year sales and then buy.

Mind you, I want an SRT and I am not sure how many of these beasts will actually be imported. I will just have to see what the final on road price looks like then make the decision.

One question - I note that many of us are waiting for CRD engines. Not an option for the SRT , is there a premium over the petrol engine for the other models? I looked at a diesel Territory before deciding to move up a class and did the maths on cost v's fuel saving. I needed 100K klm to recoup the extra outlay at the start. I assume that is roughly applicable to the Jeep as well. For me 100K klm is 4 years of travel and after 4 years I am looking to change cars anyway. Are you all intending to hold them longer or what is the attraction of the diesel ?

Dont yell at me too loud, I have never owned a diesel. I am interested in why they are so popular.
