Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

It is funny how quiet our Jeep dealers have been on this thread. I bet JeepAU told them to STFU and not to post on this evil forum.
One day they will learn how car buyers think now....

looks like the very well known bad earthing problem. I hope the AU dealers check this problem in pre-delivery.

Ohh. Now that really worries me. The main reason I am waiting so long is for the electronics package. If I have to wait months for my car, a car that is costing more than any previous car I have purchased, and it has electrical problems I will seriously be annoyed.

I have been watching the forum closely and there do not seem to be many complaints from early owners in US so I am hoping there are no major gremlins lurking.

I see that there has been an update to the U-Connect system released in US. Does anyone ( Milous ?? ) know if our cars will have the update already loaded??

Some reading to fill in time.. hopefully the bugs are ironed out on the AU models being later builds.

2014 Overland broke down yesterday....had ot be towed.

2014 not even 100 miles and issues

2014 Grand Cherokee Summit issues!

Perspective on 2014 GC problems

My 2014 Overland review- not good so far!

Those who have a 2014, any problems? or problem free?

2014 Grand Cherokee Air Conditioning Problem

all new cars have some problems and it comes down to how the local dealer network handles and fixes.. lets hope Jeep AU are ready to act and can fully support the new model or Facebook will light up like a Christmas tree in 6 months from now !..

Dont yell at me too loud, I have never owned a diesel. I am interested in why they are so popular.
Owning a diesel cant and shouldn't be justified by potential pay back periods. My first diesel purchace was several years ago, and was a vehicle we needed in our business. It was noisy, slow and smokey, but lasted many many years, all trouble free. 9 yrs ago, we needed a new van, & thought id try a diesel again. It was marketed as being extremely frugal. It was and, too my surprise was a completely different driving experience to the first diesel vehicle. It actually had impressive over taking ability on the freeway, great towing torque and smooth and quiet to drive. When my wife said she liked the JGC I said, lets try the diesel. We too a MY13 for a drive and she was hooked, I was so surprised at how much better this was than the 9 yr old van. To put the technical spec in perspective, my 90's V8 HSV had about 9kw more than the CRD and had a whole heap (100+Nm) less torque.
I guess whst im trying to say is, the CRD is being bought because its a great drive. Test drive one and experience it. Im almost giving up all my V8's for diesels.

no offence Regie.. but there have been a few mysterious floaters chime in from time to time with what seems to be "inside" information but it never amounts to much.
Any more to add?

Robom8,

Like what I said on Post #2361 but no response yet.

And where is that mystery "that "one off" 2014 black Summit that arrived at Port Melbourne some time back".

How did you know about it?

Milous mentioned it in one of his posts a while back. A shipping summary I think. My first guess is it is for the CEO. Just a guess though.

Im involved with fleet buying.. a source suggests the release date has been pushed back 1-2 weeks due to last minute re-pricing. As you know the AU dollar is in decline and analysts believe will fall to US 90c this calendar year. This has forced a last minute rethink before official pricing is released. To hedge of the potential impact it is expected that increases of up to 7.5% will be applied, its believed the market will still tolerate this increase based on the price of the competition

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Auscop , Blakey and others
I also am waiting for pricing (& specs) to be finalised so my novated lease company can price and place an order for me. Glad to hear I am not alone but very frustrated that any of us are in that position. It is really mucking me around not knowing when to begin disposal of current vehicle - sell / trade in?? Can't really do a trade in deal until I know which dealer(s) the novated lease company recommend as best pricing.
I queried the nov.lease contact whether any dealers would be prepared to lower prices for this new and sought after car. He was adamant that it is all to do with volume - if the dealer wants other current and future business from the lease comapny he will need to be negotiable depending how much "fat" is in the price he pays.

Does all this sound logical or am I being had?
