To hedge of the potential impact it is expected that increases of up to 7.5% will be applied, its believed the market will still tolerate this increase based on the price of the competition
7.5% on a 70K vehicle is a lot of money ($5250). Let's hope that does not come to pass. Those who have taken a punt and locked in a buy price will be very lucky indeed if that in fact occurs.

Has anyone actually locked in a price? My dealer had a " subject to price rises " clause. 7.5% on the 90k est for the SRT will have me changing my mind. It's not justified either. Hedge contracts are organised months in advance and the dollar has only just started to slide. I did not see prices drop very much when the dollar was rising and I seriously doubt the demand is that strong that a 7% increase will be of little impact.

Sounds like an unsubstantiated rumour.

Locked in our price, and i know of others on here that have exactly the same clause as we do (might be the same dealer). Our price is locked in with increase capped at $1000, meaning if the MY14 rrp is more than the MY13 rrp, then our price increases to a maximum of $1000 over what we have negotiated. any increase over $1000 is worn by the dealer. RRP for the MY13 being that at time of us signing the contract.

I'm locked in too, same clause but at the end of the day it really is null and void given its an open contract and doesn't even have the right car on it .. Or am I being skeptical ?

Yep, locked in. The same deal as iboughtajeep. Wasn't sure if this was the way to go, but if the dealership is forced into these massive price hikes, at least I have it on paper and signed. I did raise this issue a few weeks ago, so lets see how good customer relations go if this actually happens. I can only see this forum just going off.

Hey Guests, it costs nothing to be a member. Why not sign up and express your thoughts. I am sure other members will welcome your views and whether you are thinking/intending to purchase a Jeep would be of interest to us all. It also gives strength to the site/forum as I am sure Chrysler Australia has sneeky viewings.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

i got a call from my dealer this morning to tell me delivery should be July/August for Overland CRD which was ordered mid March. I should have been more excited but I think he is stringing me along. He said the first shipment has petrol models and diesels will be next. He also said they are desperate for cars to sell as almost all 2013 are sold. I have also locked in a price so lets see if they keep to this.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I seriously hope that the 7.5% increase doesn't happen. I'm sorry to say it, but it would certainly have me reconsider my ~$90k 2014 SRT order if it becomes a >100k car with LCT, towbar and extended warranty. With reasonable ground clearance, awd grip and serious performance being high on my wish list, I think I'd have to at least consider the soon to be released Audi S Q5 also around $90-100k mark. With 0-100 in 5.1 seconds from a 3.0 diesel with 230 KW and 650 Nm it isn't too far behind the SRT in terms of performance. It won't sound like the SRT either, but it will be far more frugal and will likely have a higher residual value after the 5 or so years I'd expect to keep the Jeep.

I guess I should have pushed for a max increase of $1000 included in my contract...

I realise I've digressed, but a 7.5% increase? Really Jeep AU??

I think you will find the Audi will be a $130K car by the time it hits the road.

Sweet car ..... a tad too small for us though. Oh and did you know the Audi has some weired exhaust that makes it sound like a V8?!? ... at the flick of a switch too.....
