Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Wow .. After reading a few of the posts about the new 2014 jeep grand cherokee overland I'm now totally confused??? I read comments about overlands being re-badged summits??? I thought buying a jeep would be easy? Walk in and order an overland. Pick inside and outside colour scheme. Whack on a tow bar and jobs done. Now I'm worried about contracts, what price I'll end up possibly paying, or whether I'm getting a summit dressed to be a overland? May be easier to order another holden calais???

Guys, do you want to get involved in this or are we going to act like whinging poms?! (Sorry to our British readers..). What do you think?

You do know there is a "group buy" thread already happening, with prices supplied by one dealer already (subject to JeepAU increases). I think there are over 10 of us listed now (4 x SRT's and 6 x CRD's of varying models), so a great incentive for the dealer to look after us.

Interested in a possible MY14 bulk purchase order (Australia only)

Nice sentiment, however if you don't have a price limiting clause in your contract then you could lose your deposit, depending on how much goodwill the dealer has.

I was told back in January that the price for a limited would rise between $2,000 & $2,500 given the extra,s now included seems to me the increase is justified, as long as stays between those figures.

I think that is a very good idea. May not assist those of us in remote areas but for sure folks in larger centres should rally together. Why should someone in Blacktown or Parramatta pay more than someone in Castle Hill (for example). Nothing like having comparison figures at your fingertips. If it would save me a few grand I would be happy to travel to Townsville from Cairns. Hell so long as I broke even on the fuel, I would travel JUST to support the dealer offers the best deals to customers.

If you want a Jeep seems as if you have to be prepared to suffer along with the rest of us. I have bought new cars for myself from Holden, Subaru and Daihatsu and ordered about 30 vehicles over 5 years in my previous job from Holden and Ford, including special orders. Never had anything but praise for the service I received from any of those makes. NEVER been treated as badly as I have been by Jeep and NEVER seen dealers treated so badly by a car maker. Great vehicles at a great price (compared with Range Rover Audi BMW and now with the new Patrol Nissan) but Chrysler Jeep etal Australia not on my Christmas Card list! Yes Anne Tanner Chrysler Jeep's Mushroom Farmer for Qld I am speaking of you

I hear you and to those who cannot exit from their purchase then unfortunately I'm sorry. I don't know about you all but I didn't sign anywhere on the purchase order but I do have a copy of the purchase order and receipt of deposit payment.

I also don't think that any Consumer Claims Tribunal no matter which State you live in would uphold or enforce a purchaser to purchase a car if it has gone up by say 5-7% in price unless that was clearly understood before the document was signed. No piece of paper in Australia can deny you of your consumer rights.

In either case, the Interested in a possible MY14 bulk purchase order (Australia only) is a good idea, which I just swiftly listed my order, and will be another means of applying leverage. I do believe that we should advertise and use this forum to our advantage and bugger CJD if they think that this forum is a waste of time. Let's unite, share our knowledge and benefit from it.

In recent posts, some have arrangements in place, and deservedly so, to have a tax or other discount due to military or other special services rendered. But for the sake of the majority who do not deserve the same discounts, let's share our prices and benefit in another way.

As I have mentioned in the past, I ordered a Bright White Laredo CRD with Custom Leather seats, rear cargo mat, bonnet and door sill guards, Extended Warranty (But I think this is the std one that everyone can get if they keep having their car serviced at Jeep etc..) for $55,950 on the road.

How does this fare? Can anyone better this?

And if the deal happens to be in Castle Hill, let me know and we'll have an ale together (light of course!!...)

I would certainly hope that prices do not move higher than what you say - but to charge say $5,000 - $10,000 more is just too much. Let's hope that it doesn't happen - then again my Uncle Vinny used to say, "We'll make them jump off the bridge when we get to it.."
