Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I went to see my dealer in Albion JCD in Brisbane today. I asked them the question about the possible price increase due to Aussie dollar falling below the USD.

The dealer assured me that this is not the case because Jeep AU has a negotiated fixed pricing on their vehicles there will be no price increases due to falling AUD apart from the extra $1000-$2000 dollars that they were going to put on the new models anyway regardless of foreign exchange rate.

What i understand is that the prices are hedged regardless of exchange rates much like Airlines do to their fuel prices.

Regards
Ameet

This would explain the 'international price guarantee' on our build sheets

Yes it was exactly like now, first ones of a facelifted model.

It was more for how much control the actual dealers had over stock rather than the CJD lottery system.

That seems to be based on the GPS fitted as standard. But how in hell they justify a 10k difference to the laredo is completely beyond me, even using car maker maths . It needs GPS to even play the game in the market, and it could probably do with a sunroof as well to justify the 10k ( not that it will happen of course).

If they think they can get away with a few hundred dollars they will, if they will get press flak for it, they won't. In a time when inflation is almost non existant, pricing increases might simply move people over to Toyota , vw, LR etc.

Remember as well that a bunch of dealers have committed to pricing on orders, while the sales manager might not know the pricing looked at, you can bet that the dealer principles have had verbals about pricing, and will be none to pleased if their $6k profit per per order is halved and given to jeep Australia .

Jeep make more money on Aussie delivered vehicles than US ones, therefore market penetration should be the goal, you get that with keen pricing versus your competitors, such that your offering is difficult to ignore.

Never had anything but praise for the service I received from any of those makes. NEVER been treated as badly as I have been by Jeep and NEVER seen dealers treated so badly by a car maker. I was staggered (horrified is probably a better word) when I went into a dealer here in Melbourne the other weekend. A sales person came up to me and asked could they help. I said "yes, I'd like to buy a jeep grand cherokee overland 2014 6 cylinder diesel turbo". The sales person then went on to say that that's not realty what I needed. What I needed was a petrol standard cherokee 2013 which they happened to have on special at the moment. I had to resist punching the sales person on the nose because she was a woman. I've been in sales 25 years and all the person who had me come in do was get their order book out. It would have been the easiest sale of their life. The fact that I said I wanted to "buy" and I was able to list exactly what I wanted would have had most true sales people drooling. I then said I had never even sat in a jeep, and could they provide me with some literature on the current or future model. She told me they didn't have any. Surprisingly (yes, I was to be surprised further) I had to prompt them to take down my name so they could send me literature and let me know when the 2014 would come in. I'm not holding my breath to hear from them. While the spiel was going on about why I should buy a petrol 2013 I couldn't get a word in. She was quizzing me about the mile I drive and that it wouldn't be worth while getting a diesel. If she'd simply asked why I'm interested in a diesel she would have found out I plan to tow a 3 tonne boat behind it. At the end I wasn't even offered a test drive even though I had said I'd never driven a jeep or 4x4 before. The simplest sale of that persons life walked out the door very pissed off.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Any recommendations from fellow forum gurus who can suggest a Melbourne dealer who's on the ball and does a decent deal?

Let me guess... You went to Melbourne City Jeep? Go to Essendon Jeep, ask for Alex Herraro (sales manager) and tell him Trajce sent you (pronounced Traj)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The reason that my wife and I are so pissed off is that we bought our last vehicle, a Subaru in exactly the same circumstances. As the model was changing over and before launch. HOWEVER, the the dealer took us for a run in the 2007, to get the feel. Then walked us round the car and explained what most of the changes on the 2008 would be. Explaining what would stay and what would go in the update. We placed the order, and we were told that if there was any issue due to changes we would be contacted. The only contact we had was to say, there was no issue with our choices and the vehicle would be ready about 2 weeks after release date. So six weeks from order.
Then the vehicle arrived 2 weeks early, and the dealer admitted they always overestimate delivery time as it saves drama. Except for the fact that our lease was not ready, we could have taken delivery on the launch date for the 2008. The dealer asked if we would mind if the vehicle was placed in the showroom, locked, so that others could admire and see an '08 in the metal.
Even then when Jo (she who must be obeyed) went to pick the car up in addition to the usual delivery inspection, handover and orientation with absolutely nothing to appologise for the dealer also gave her flowers, and chocolates as a thank you for buying the car and letting them have it in the showroom for 2 weeks on display.

Now compare that with the way we have been treated by Jeep and the other experiences relayed on this forum. I wish Subaru made a competitor for the Jeep GC I know who would be getting our money in 2013.

Mazda for me. The way I am treated at my local Mazda dealer for my wifes car, (and my old RX7 before that) would have me buying a car from them in a heartbeat if they had something comparable. (Hmmm... maybe a BT50 next time, and you can get a factory bull bar for those too, thinking, thinking....)

Stupid, if she had asked, then she would know what you really need is a Fiat 500.

I wonder why it's so hard to get a $1.25 brochure on a vehicle you're about to spend $80k on??
