Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

This saga is turning into a comedy.

Husband and child have just done what could only be called a reconnissance of PrixCars in Minto (the compliance holding mob for all imports into NSW from Port Kembla).

They spotted brand new (clearly just been unloaded) Chrysler vehicles close to the wire. Child was on the phone to me whilst husband was out scouting the fenceline. Convo went something like this:

Child: Mummy, whole heap of red ones - oh hang on I think they are Dodges. Yep, definitely Dodges and and yes some 300 series Chryslers... hang on...

Me: Look for the GJC - headlights child - look at the headlights.

Child: We're looking.... Daddy think's there's a white one hiding behind that 300. He's trying to take a pic - but it's in the way. He can't get close enough.

Child: Oh... Mummy... Security guard approaching - are we in trouble?

Me: No - it's a public road - just tell Daddy not to scale the fence.

Several moments pause...

Me: What's happening?

Child: Daddy is talking to the security guard - oh the guard is laughing. Is that good?

Child: Guard has told Daddy where the JGC are (pointing in direction). We can't get to them to take pics. Guard says that more are arriving next week - is that a good thing - Do you think one of those is our one?

Hilarious! Neither husband nor child would be headhunted by ASIO to be certain.

I know the grey hair thing. My son has no patience with me when I ask him to repeat an instruction to do with computers.

I am pretty sure I saw one in the hunter valley on Thursday going the other way - it was a red cherry limited or overland I think, but it was passed me before I could confirm, though press drives are often in the hunter valley.

Visited my local dealer today and got told he would have pricing and details this Wednesday.
Also mentioned they will have demo stock in a couple of weeks.
Here's hoping!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yeah maybe. Guard was pretty good - understood completely. Apparently talked to another guy a few days ago who was scouting for his pre-ordered MB and was getting a bit antsy about it's non-arrival at the dealership.

I've looked at the pics that he bought home with him and I can't categorically say that he has captured the MY14. Too many other vehicles in the way - Compasses, 300's, a few Patriots, some Wranglers, a Fiat Freemont (what is that?) - it is identical to the Dodge Journey sitting next to it...

Anyway, it was worth the trip - they were coming back home and decided to take the short hop off the freeway and have a bit of a look in the hope of getting lucky.

If you input your VIN onto the shipping website, you will see it assigned to a vessel much quicker than watching the Curtis Bay tracking. The reports out of Curtis Bay are sometimes several days behind.

The Fiat Freemont is in fact a rebadged Dodge.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

AllyPally - why would they sell the same vehicle under two different badges? That's odd (isn't it?)

Oh forget that question of mine. Just asked my husband. He looked at me like I had two head. 'Yeah they do it all the time' and mentioned some Subaru rebadged thing.

Don't mind me - clearly I'm clueless.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Well the will make everyone happy. On the phone to Jeep dealers today in Brisbane and Sydney trying to hunt down an alternative to my phantom Jeep order. Two dealers told me that they have been advised by CJA to expect Diesel GC in October November........... Looks like my order forms may get to have a little Birthday party. Think I will get them a cup cake with a candle. AND GET ME A NISSAN ST-X 550!!!!!!

Better be quick - the Pathie is being discontinued and the new version is going to be a softroader.

I also visited local dealer this arvo - said the same thing. He expected the pricing to be available early next week and he should have a demo car in the showroom in about 2 weeks . He also said he expects the pricing to be only about $1,000 up on 2013 prices!!
