Anyone find a better rate?
I have not been given an actual interest, however by looking at the data the novated lease company gave me. After a 3 yr lease with approx excluding maintenance costs (Fuel, Rego, Insurance etc.) and taking in to consideration the reduction pay taxable income I am paying ~ 1% This though is a novated lease where everything is taken out pretax.

A novated lease is the way to go as you save some great tax dollars. The lease itself will still have a commercial interest rate - it's just that, as you you can claim many things as expenses, the net result is more in your pocket. The net end result of 1% can't be scoffed at!

Don't get too excited. Milous is a true legend, I also got my E number today and Milous was able to tell me more in an hour than Jeep had in nine months.

But the news is not all good. My vehicle, ordered in October 2012 is still sitting on the docks in Curtis Bay. So it did not make the first two shipments meaning it is about two months away still IF it get a ride this week.

AND Jeep Au have not announced the launch date, and as Ms Tanner made clear: "Regardless of where vehicles are No vehicles will be made available to customers until after the launch date and that has not been determined yet".

Two dealers I spoke with; one Sydney and one Brisbane told me if I wanted to order a '14 they expected October/November. So my car may be available in August (late july if I am lucky) IF Jeep decide they want to let me have it. Equally it may sit in a holding yard until Oct, Nov, Dec.......

I know a lot more than my dealer, and he is angry as hell too. Nothing we can do. My wife went ballistic when I told her the car was still in the US. Starting to look like Nissan or Ford will be getting our money.

Any chance I could have that info too please. Best I've been quoted so far is 6% from 2 Jeep dealers.

Not anymore, as of now you have to do a min of ~40000 KMs to reduce your Fringe Benefit Tax. As of April next year it does not matter all FBT will be at 20%

Dont get caught out with fees. Look at repayment amounts and balloon at the end when comparing. Some financial institutions dont quote mothly fees, etc and can end up looking cheaper with a lower interest rate, but once all their fees are calculated end up more expensive.

That the FBT being calculated as 20% of vehicle cost -only one of about 3calculation methods
Please check notated leases closely with your accountant. The FBT rate is 46.5% and unless your taxable income is close to 180K your personal marginal tax rate will be lower ( probably only 40%).
Get the accountant to do the after tax cost figures both ways. The result will change for each individual

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Now sure how a guy from the Arizona desert got caught up in this aussie thread.

In regards to finance rates I found something interesting out quite by accident. I told my dealer (here in USA) that I was cleaning up my credit to get a good rate when the jeep arrived. He asked me how much I was putting down. I told him 25% he then said your credit is not that important as I will get the 'equity' rate of 2.99%. Not sure if this it true be he implied that if the vehicle had equity for the lender when I drove it off the lot I got this special rate.

Ever heard of this. My third GC and first time I heard of it.

A 25% deposit means that unless something goes really bad the lender will always be able to sell the car for more than the loan balance. So his risk is lower and he can give a good rate.

Wish we could get a 3% rate here but our rates are about 2.5% higher overall. But part of that reason is our general economy is a bit stronger than US right now so we can't complain.

A JGC in the Arizona desert would be a great way to see an interesting landscape

Erina, The method I am using is the Employee Contribution Method. So going by the quotes I have been given I am paying no FBT. At the moment they have me down for 15000 KMs per year, with this they have set my maintenance at $7000 per year. As I am sure you know this is fuel, rego, insurance, servicing, and tyres. The balloon payment after 3 yrs is just under 47%. This works for me as I needed to get my taxable income down as I was going over the $25k limit for super.
