Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

STRANGE ISN'T IT. Cars Guide in the Herald Sun has a double page spread on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. One problem, the review was conducted on the MY13. I hope that's not a indication of the competency of this Company....always one step behind. Looking forward to an MY14 review following quickly because it is a "so much better" jeep. Good to see the resale rating increasing. The MY13 now has a resale of 61%. I can see this new MY14 surpassing the Toyota Landcruiser. Bring it on. A good motor vehicle competitors fight is good for all of us in the end.

Last time I heard, AlanQld, the QLD sales manager was some bloke. Facts people. Quit bullsh$&ing semantics and start talking up your rides...whether you currently have received them or not. I could have bought a cruiser but put up with the crap that comes from Jeep AU, and finally got a reasonable purchase.
Not a very good first post.

Points taken, more bad news. Turns out it wasn't the lease company that specified 2013 build. SG Fleet said yesterday "Your quote as you have identified was a 2012 and that is the basis of our order. That is what we would expect you would have been delivered." Now the dealer can't explain why were were told it was the lease company's requirement. I was well aware the of the time required for a special order, that is why, with the current lease expiring in March 2013 we ordered the car in October 2012 allowing extra time for Christmas closures. We were not advised by the dealer that there was to be a model change in 2013. To make matters worse we only found out about the change to the order and that it was to be a 2014 when we went into the dealer and inquired in February because we had heard nothing from them. Bad experience all round. I really like the Jeep it is a great vehicle but compared to how I was treated by Holden, Daihatsu, Subaru (which was a special order and at the time the model changed) and Nissan with previous purchases this is disgraceful.

I have been involved in a couple of car clubs over the years, but both with well established brands and clubs that had a long history that have been around for years.

The Holden Sporting Car Club was CAMS affiliated and very much club sport focused, at the time had been around for 25 years. But still struggled to get new members beyound a main core. It turned out in the end to be the "Club that supports the two guys who race MR2's" club. The ability to get a club that caters for all interests, track days, social, touring, show and shine etc is really hard. Then try and organise day that suits everyone...

The reality is that the number of people who would be willing to run their SRT at a track days on a regular basis would be tiny. Be prepared for special tyres (are you wiling to wear out your road tyres in 10 laps?) just for a start - What are track tyres worth on an SRT - $3000??

If you really want to do a track day I suggest you go off and do one with a commercial operator - that is all Alex at Waitara would arrange anyway.

I'm now in the Alfa club which is quite active, but it has been around for years, is Australia wide and has members with many many models of cars - so it has depth. The MX5 club is strong too.

One brand clubs are tough enough, but one model? Wow - good luck.

Hey, but I still think you should give it a go. Maybe there is a SRT club in USA that you could become affiliated with? The Hills Chapter?
GMWK2, i agree with you, i just mentioned the club idea as a figure of speech as i do know there are a few SRT owners and prospective owners in my area. It would be fun to have the opportunity to have some fun on a track though, I asked Jeep a while back if they will have track days like in the US and they said no. I think it is good customer PR if Waitara have taken this upon themselves, says alot about the establishment they run.

If someone out there wants to try and get a club up and running by all means go ahead, personally i don't have the time to accomplish this task....but i would definately joint the track days.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I also have a SG Fleet car. They would have placed the order with the dealership stating that the car had to be a 2012 build, as that was the year they placed the order. DUH! What they were implying is that they did not want you supplied with a car built in the previous year.
The dealer should have informed SG Fleet that there were no 2012 builds left and would they wish to have a 2013 build. It really isn't rocket science.
Are you dealing with the Dealer Principal, or just the salesman?

Speaking with Alex at Waitara, they will be having a SRT Privileges Club which includes track days at Eastern CreekSame as they do with their HSV customers (damn i'd love to beat them on the track lol).

Actually Paige, who was helpful in the past, has been moved from the Jeep Shed to another make to sell. I wonder why? Too nice? Hmmm.

Just guessing here, but I would assume that they sell more Suzuki's than Jeeps, so better commission. No point in slogging your guts out If you have no cars to show or sell.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Im gonna admit it guys....A LOT of the blame is on JeepGarage and the HUGE amount of info we have provided you guys in Au. The dealers.....Jeep Au....etc. doesnt have some of this info. The sales launch has NOT occured in Australia. Why they are waiting...I have no idea! I can only speculate that the sales launch here in the states was much bigger than they thought. The demand here in the states is probably overwhelming. Our guys here really want the 3.0 diesel and its not getting launched yet. So...please remember this and be as patient as possible. Please dont move on to other vehicles.....vehicles that you will regret buying when you see these awesome vehicles on the road!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Suspect somewhere that someone has become confused with the differences between build dates, series descriptors (my13 etc), and compliance plates. Made the mistake, then has covered their ass by lying about it.

Who has made that mistake is anybody's guess

A Scott says above, the downside of the Internet is you can get more information than the dealer. As they say ignorance is bliss......
