Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The interwebs skews things too. Before these forums, if someone was having troubles with their Ford, the only person who would know, are their immediate acquaintances . Now they get on a forum, and tell all, while the happy owners have no desire to go to a forum and post about their non experience s . Pretty much, unless the problem was big enough to be on the news, you didn't get to know about it.

And as above, the plus side is I knew after 20 minutes researching that the 14 was on its way, very close, and looks waaaaay better. Gotta take the ups with the downs.

How do you do "due diligence" without a site like Jeepgarage. Many on the Aussie site have complained about dealers just telling straight out lies about a new model being imminent as they sign a poor unsuspecting person up with an $80K contract for a superseded model. I don't know about the USA but I am sure Chrysler Australia would like to close Jeepgarage down over here. They sure are not happy with the information being released on these sites.
Probably very true friend. Well said. The email sent from the lady at jeep au didnt have a good tone.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Webber, based on their performance in Importing/Selling/Maintaining Jeeps, I doubt if there is anyone at Jeep Australia who would have the slightest clue about closing down a website. Even their own.
They would tell you it doesn't exist, so impossible to close.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

At the start of this year my wife pointed out a 2012 JGC on the road and said it looked really good. At the time we were looking at a Merc ML350. Off to the local dealer who told me the 2014 was coming and I should wait due to the big improvements. Signed up and was told to expect a car around July, maybe June. All fair enough and good service from the dealer.
If I did not know about Jeepgarage ( found it on a google search looking for info on the JGC ) I would be happily waiting and expecting something in July. I would not know some were already in here and certainly would not know I could track a car through a build etc.
Ignorance is bliss and while the business advisor in me thinks JeepAU could handle this much better, the majority of customers would be quite happily waiting until July. Maybe we do have too much info and this leads to unreasonable expectations? I am sure this happens in other industries too so I have a ( very small ) amount of sympathy for JeepAU.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just got a call from my local Jeep dealer in Brisbane. Said a truck load of the new GC had just arrived and that I could arange a time to come and have a look.

At least he did call me back so that is promising.

Unfortunately, because of other committments, I can't get to have a look until next week.

Just have to be patient but at least there is some progress.

See my not finished comparison spread sheet.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I spoke with someone this morning saying I cant wait for my GC Overland MY14, he said what did I mean.. He purchased one off the floor two weeks ago and had no idea about the changes.. He asked me how I found out about the new model before I ordered mine.. My Reply Was - Google!....

It is very sad for people who just walk in and don't ask the question's, how long has this model been out and when will it be replaced..

However if everyone had info on the new one the old ones would just sit and rot.. So someone needs to buy them I just hope they get a Great Deal!!

The way of the world...

No the tone was not good saying.
They do not have access to any of the Vessel systems therefore cannot generate any correct information on which car might be on which Vessel
Forums are great chat sites where everyone has an opinion, but in this case, none of the information posted comes from the manufacturer
Forums do not build, import, compliance, transport, prepare or register vehicles.
Regardless of where the clients vehicle are : NO vehicle will be made available to anyone before the release date and this is yet to be announced.

Kind regards,

Having used the features of this excellent forum, I have to say that either this woman is not well informed OR she was telling dealers to lie to their customers about this forum. Seeing as point four seems to contradict point one I suspect the latter which is why she got so upset it was leaked.
