It's all just a nasty rumor started by some frustrated Jeepers on some little insignificant Internet forum, to frustrate and embarrass the nice people at Jeep Oz. ..... The car does not exist .... Repeat DOES NOT EXIST!

Jeep Brighton had a brilliant back back didn't notice whether it was a Laredo or limited (just driving past)

Did you have any trouble with insurance? In qld you can't register the car without taking it in and insurance companies won't cover you if the car is not registered.

Guys, I apologise if posting the price caused some frustration, I was just keen to see if I was of right track. At the end of the day, the dealership treated me well, was honest about delivery, rang me when the cars came in for me to view and the deal was made easy. I walked away feeling satisfied.

I can tell you there are overlands, limiteds and laredos at Mornington and Frankston Jeep. There is an overland at Mentone Jeep as well.

These are available for viewing as I was there yesterday.

The dealers are able to get a temporary permit for a week or two. I think in NSW they call it an unregistered vehicle permit. I did this in 2003 for my Statesman. I am going to call our MVR here on Tuesday to see if you are able to register a vehicle sight unseen if you have the engine and VIN number that way I could take the plates to Sydney with me.

Rego laws have just changed in the NT. You only need an inspection at 5 and 10 yrs, and then every year after that. They have also got rid of the sticker for the front window.

It is very common for Unregistered Vehicle Permits to be used for this exact reason. Ensure that the issuing authority endorses it for interstate travel if required. The permit will specify a starting location and end destination along with travel dates. Permits are valid to midnight on the last date shown.

Dealers can obtain these easily, mostly with new vehicles no inspection is required prior to issue because of recent import or group compliance. Permits are for a limited time, however even after the permit has expired you may drive directly by the shortest most practical route to an Inspection Station, Registry Office or Authorised Place of Repair. You must not break the journey so no stopping off for Maccas. after the permit expires.
Driving on an Unregistered Vehicle Permit (NSW) or Temporary Permit (QLd) allows you to make stops along the way, motels, meals ect. So long as you are basically headed in the right direction and those stops are "incidental to travel as authorised by permit" you are covered in exactly the same way as if your car was registered and insured in the usual way. Does pay to let the company providing full comprehensive know what you are doing. Some charge extra excess in these cases.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

If anyone feels like having a vent, I came across some contact information for two of the head PR, Customer Service people at Jeep US.
Hespen@chrysler.com and todd.goyer@chrysler.com
May be a complete waste of keystrokes but I figured what the hell. Just shot them an email relating my customer journey, directing them to Jeep Aust Facebook page with all the unanswered complaints and questions there. Oh and Ms Anne Tanner got a mention too. Maybe they will ignore it, but maybe not. May be worth a shot people, better customer relations a Jeep Aust would make all our lives better. Then this forum could get back to people praising the product and exchanging tales of Jeep adventure, rather than bemoaning who that experience is being ruined.

Oh how I wish I was in Victoria in the freezing cold peering into Jeep GC, instead of sitting by the pool in Cairns bashing out emails to Jeep.

For what it's worth, I purchase my vehicles in nsw and the dealer throws on a 5 day permit in their name to get me to qld where I do my business and head back down south.
I insure my vehicle with GIO and they know of this. The last 3 cars have been done this way as im based in nsw for half the year.
To them the vehicle is registered (by the way of an unregistered travel permit) and roadworthy to travel on the roads.

Always clearly check with your insurer first of course, but I have no issue
