Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

im just hoping I have a good experience, seeing too many horror stories on Jeep Aus facebook page of late ( some entertaining reading there guys !) . Some serious complaining and product bashing going on there and as you say it seems Jeep are not positioned to deal with their success !

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Guys, just received an email from the Sales Manager of a Melbourne suburban dealership stating definetely no Summit for Australia. That makes 3 sales managers who have responded in the negative. I am trying to come to terms with driving an Overland. If their were any hopeful Summit buyers out their this is not looking good.
MILOUS, is their any chance you can still save the day?

Could these people be wrong? How come Milous had seen those Aussie Summit specs. Is that Summit coming or has Oz Jeep chickened out.

Agree with your comments webber regarding the potential in the market but let's be honest the cars were produced in America not Australia so Chrysler should be congratulated absolutely. As you rightly state re the poor service the management however in Australia obviously leaves a lot to be desired. Too many unanswered questions and poor customer feedback. I would love to take on the CEO role cause if you got it right the growth potential in the next 10 years is astronomical. In saying that it is easy for me to comment on the lack of service but I am sure there is more too it within the organisation. The Jeep fans should be kept in the picture though even if they can't answer all the question.

Have you ever asked why there is no Australian Jeep representative on this forum ( I am assuming this of course but I haven't seen evidence on one ). I know more about the cars and what is available then any other dealer that I have spoken too and I have only been on this site for a few weeks. Whoever is the Marketing Manager in Chrysler Australia should have a hard think about their market and where they are cause there is a lot of them on this forum. I know they have their own Facebook thing going on but even that doesn't seem to be kept up to date.

I told my dealer today that he needs to get on this forum as I am sick of telling him what is going on with the product he is trying to sell. Laziness, quality of staff I am not sure but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to offer good service and reach your market. And the front line is at the dealerships. They need to be the most informed people in the business. It seems however they are not.

Not sure if I posted this before but last weekend I went to my local dealer to ask about the trailhawk - blank look from salesman, he then asked me who made them....

I gave him the jeep garage web site address.

I would not be too concerned, as I am sure that a Overland in Oz will be far mored optioned up than it's equivalent in the USA. Don't be surprised if it turns out to be a Summit with an Overland badge.
If you are unsure, just compare the MY13 Overland Oz to the Summit USA.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I think allypally is correct - I think you will find that Oz spec in all models are better equiped than the USA. I think the USA has a tradition of lots of options to tick - much more of a build what you want. However this is not realistic for an import market like Oz where a lot of the time the only option is a sunroof or not. I'm always amused at how our USA friends are thrilled by the folding mirrors in their higher spec models, but which are standard here on the Laredo.

Until you see the actual specs for the Oz model, well, its all just....speculation!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Allypally & GMWK2
Actually, I do understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately, talking to dealers it looks like we will get the Overland appearance with all or most of the Summit specs.
My gripe is that Laredo, Limited and Overland actually look the same. You have to look twice to see whether it has some black plastic or chrome handles to seperate the models. Now the Summit is a noticeably different car. Just another step up to compete against Benz and BMW. I feel OZjeep would have been better to bring in the Summit shape even if re-badged Overland to introduce a top line model/shape but that is not what dealers are leading me to believe. Anyway guys, I will be happy with the Overland shape as long as they don't decide to bring in the Summit shape next year. Yeah, I am fussy. It's just that I have never put money into cars before preferring to sink it into my business but one reaches the time and unfortunately the age in life where they want to re-prioritise things and blowing money on a fast depreciating car was the stage in life I had reached. Normally I should be going for the image of the Merc or Benz now but this Jeep is so good and the others would cost a lot more to get what is standard on the Jeep. Chrysler has done an excellent job. Jeep USA are proudly promoting the Summit as the flagship in USA, Canada, Europe and I suspect many other countries. Why they just did not take that one extra step in Australia I do not know......but guys, I am on this site all day everyday waiting for the word from MILOUS.

JKAU, I know you want a Summit. Would you be happy with an Overland if you knew OZJEEP would not release a Summit into our market shortly after you purchased an Overland. The suspense of waiting for a confirmed yes or no on the Summit is hard. You would have to say it does not look like we will get it. You would have thought the news would have leaked out by now. From inside, where you spend most of your time you don't really know whether you are in an Overland or a Summit. I will go with an Overland but would I be mad if Jeep later introduced the Summit, really mad.

Stick with it JKAU, you may test drive others all you like but admit it, you may not come up with a vehicle that the JGC is for the price.

Stand firm and wait for the right choice.

It will be worth it in the long run!
You know I'm right.
