Thanks for pointing out that it was hard to read on a tablet. I've changed it to grey so hopefully it will be visible on both light and dark backgrounds.

With regards to the chattel mortgage and the >50% business use; I'm not sure why / whether it always matters, but I was asked for this by my lender and also by Alex. My lender is doing my finance as an 'equipment loan' and it might be that that requires a valid business use. If it doesn't matter to you, please disregard that bit. I didn't want people expecting 5.49% for a different type of loan or use which carries a different rate. I'm not a finance guru, I'm just letting people know what I've found. If you've found a better deal, then tell everyone - It would have saved me a lot of time hunting around for information.

PS, sorry if I've taken this thread too far off topic...

The dealer did say today also that ours was the only CRD Overland they had at this point. He also said they had no SRT's at this stage. They have Limited's and Laredo's - all petrol but no other CRD's.

I think your dealer was correct in saying that there would be a small wait on further CRD's at this stage.

Hang in there - they're coming.

ETA: They have on the floor now Limited's and Laredos's petrol but no other CRD's.
I have also read on the other sites that the European CRD specs have changed from the MY13. MY13 was 177kw and 550nM of torque. I have read that the MY14 is 184kw and 570nM. Only 2 days to go and we shall find out!

Its such an entertaining saga...
WHO will be the first to drive their Jeep.. my money is on Webber who by now is possibly camping out the front of the Werribee dealership

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I feel bad that people are naming various dealerships throughout this thread and except for Webber and Werribee Jeep, have generally been portraying them in a bad light.

I would like to (just once - I won't mention it again), mention Macarthur Jeep (also known as Macarthur Automotive) in Narellan NSW.

We have always been kept updated by them as to the 'state of play' so to speak. More than 14 months ago we would have purchased their MY13 in Winter Chill if they would have let us have it. (it was their demo vehicle and they wouldn't let it go at the time )

No matter, from the time we went back and placed our order they kept in touch. (and went the hard yards for us but I'm not allowed to mention that - a bit like Webber's story). Suffice to say, they did their best even if they got bitten.

Not all dealerships are equal. We are very happy with ours.

Milous, can you shed any light on why some colours are here but not all ?
Not sure if this is the reason, however I was fortunate enough to see one of my cars being made (actually assembled) in the flesh while in Germany a few years ago. It was a 'privilege' they offered and I took up. Anyway, what I learnt was that they did in fact build cars in batches. One day blue, another red etc. Its possible the same is happening I b Jeep land, after all they did suddenly do a batch of CRD's.

Webber will be first - I will be second.

Different states though - that's gotta be good.

I tend to agree that an extended warranty shouldn't be required at all. A significant purchase like a car should should be of merchanable quality and fit for purpose for many years however in practice things can be very different. Trying to argue that a failed part on a five year old car should be replaced by the manufacturer as it wasn't fit for purpose, on a car that has a lapsed manfacturer's warranty isn't an argument I really want to get into. This will be my first Jeep and not knowing too much about the reliability, availability and cost or parts leads me to consider if I ought get some additional cover. A mate of mine has a Cherokee and about 3 months out of warranty he had an issue with a rear side window that just 'dropped down' inside the door. Replacing a rail or guide or whatever cost well over $500 and that sets alarm bells ringing for a car as complex as a Grand Cherokee. I don't want to be having to dig deeply into my pockets if something goes wrong with any of the complex items like uconnect system, adaptive headlights, active dampers, HVAC, electronic dash, E-diff, gearbox or anything else likey to be very expensive to fix.

I've had very little to complain about with my current car but shortly after the std 3 year warranty expired, the tailgate stopped opening. The button 'worked' and there was a clicking noise, but the tailgate wouldn't release. I had an Allianz extended warranty and I took that to the Ford dealer and he just noted down the policy number and did the work. I didn't have to pay a thing. It was, if anything, easier than having to battle Ford time after time to get the wobbly front passenger headrest sorted when the car first arrived. It's almost like the dealers have to justify to Ford, every $ for repair they do and with the aftermarket warranty, it just seemed easier. Maybe that's why Allianz was so much more expensive than AWN. Time will tell. The other thing I'm considering is the resale value. When I sell my car (hopefully in a few weeks when the SRT arrives) it will have warranty for another two and a bit years. Any mechanical fault will be covered and it's just a case of seeing that it has full service history and the body and interior is in good condition. Anyway, I've digressed again... If you want to take a gamble that nothing expensive (and covered by warranty) will go wrong in the time you have the car, then save your money and don't get extended warranty. I would prefer to pay the $2k or so for the warranty and then see it 'wasted' by having a faultless car (as I'm sure many of them will be) over the next 4-6 years. If it was closer to $5k per year then I'd be looking at selling it before three years or taking a risk and keeping the money in a slush fund *if* something expensive needs fixing.

Cheers,

GB

Well said. I'd like to give praise where it's due too. Suttons Waitara have been awesome. The selfish part of me wants to withold this information for now as I'm sure the staff there will be inundated by questions from you lot and they won't have time to respond to me anymore.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

AWN Warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on.
Just a quick Google search will bring up many horror stories about them.
They have so many weasel clauses and the dealers that sell them lie to make huge profits by selling them.
The Allianz one is the factory backed one and can only be bought when you buy the car. This would be the only one I would consider.

Personally you should be able to claim any problem with the car even after the 3 years under the new ACL's. If the motor blew up after 4 years, I would expect Jeep to replace it on a $60k+ car. On the other hand spending $5k for an extra 2 years on a $80k+ SRT may pay off if you blow a $20k motor.
