Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

We have an order through JH pending acceptance on price. MY14 Laredo CRD car is expected to arrive 26th june. JH has offered a vehicle price fairly similar to that of Alex's' price (plus onroads, dealer delivery and obvious stamp duty/rego) [Alex's Pricing] . We were advised that it is approx 10k difference between laredo/limited [with any other LCT to be taken into consideration], and like mentioned before 'be careful what add-ons you put on, and re-consider potential resale value'.

We havent seen any other pricing as of yet in regards to competitors [quotes have been requested] but we're at the stage where we have waited and the price isn't unreasonable. At the early stages they provided us with as much info as they could, with the remainder of the information being found on this forum. A lot more information has come out now to the dealers and they're up to speed, well at least JH seem to be. We cannot complain about the service that we've had at all really.

If you are looking to trade in your car, consider the possibility of selling whole sale. We are trading in a 2007 toyota camry sportivo and there is nearly a $2000 difference in values, and JH aren't offering any benefits on a 'no-trade sale'.

EDIT: Shertim, was that for a MY14 model?

Actually Karter, webber isn't being mean but actually helpful (he's one of the goodies on JeepGarage - and a legend of the MY14 - you'll read why). I very much recommend that you pick an afternoon or evening and start from post no. 1 and you will learn HEAPS about the MY14.

This isn't only for Karter but for the all of the newbies here. It's the best way to decide whether Jeep is the path you wish to follow or not. If you decide to go to another brand, that's OK because we all make mistakes in life.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Guys,

Long term listener first time caller.

Firstly I want to thank everyone(especially Milous, Allypally, Webber, Snuke & Co) who has contributed. Your experience and knowledge has been truly inciteful and has certainly helped pass the past few months whilst waiting for my JGC Laredo.

I just want to pass on some of my experience. I ordered a Laredo early Feb this year and have heard absolutely nothing from the dealer. My view was that instead of being that annoying customer I would wait my time patiently. Well after 4.5 months I finally got a email from my dealer to say the car has arrived and it will be ready by the end of this week. To be honest I found sending me an email as their only communication with me somewhat poor. (Had I done this with my clients I know they would certainly go elsewhere) anyway sorry that I digress. I decided to call the general manager to get a please explain over this type of service and what would be the price increase. After 20min chatting the GM apologised over the poor customer relations and assured me there will be no price increase.

I guess what I'm saying is that you catch more flys with honey.

I hope everyone here gets their new toy soon and I look forward to seeing everyone on the 4x4 tracks.

Hi Wayne
My dealer said that it could be up to 6 months before a nudge bar becomes available for the 2014. Seems the 2013 won't fit. There is a big negative however - the bar will interfere with the front parking sensors - constantly activate the beeper. I was shown a salesman's 2013 with a nudge bar fitted and he had to keep the sensors off or go mad.

you can get around this by disconnecting the sensors inline with the nudge bar. had to do this to a company vehicle that was used in the mines and had a bull bar and rear bar fitted. with the rear bar the auto elec's installed the sensors on the bar itself. had some dummie one installed in the old bumper to plug the holes.

....and I boughtajeep.
Thanks Captain. It was all in jest but nice to see you offerring support, and Iboughtajeep, I have not had my car for two days. It has been in "Theatre"
since 8.00am on Monday. All work has been completed and being kept in intensive care overnight for all "curing" processes to take place properly.
Re-uniting around 8.00am Wednesay morning and taking her for a ride to Benalla and return which will give her about a 400Km return "running in" trip. Will be trying out some of the dials/features tomorrow. Seriously though, have laid out a lot of money for these facelifts. I have noted comments historically on this site for and against these procedures. Even today, I was in at a "car" shop and the guy behind the counter said, "your're joking" this $40 dollar bottle would do the same thing and you apply it yourself". I am aware of those comments. I had a choice....do all the protection immediately whilst the car does not have "one single blemish" or start driving it around and risking wear & tear marks while I procrastinate whether to "do or not".
I have elected to just blow the money. Its the end of the financial year. With log book use I can claim approx. 90% of all costs and a lot of this "facelift" work should be able to be claimed immediately. Even tomorrows drive is a legitimate log book claim. "Green & Grow" nursery in Benalla and meeting up with Blackspur Nursery as well for lunch and to discuss business matters over a lovely lunch before returning home. As mentioned earlier....3M film extensively including A pillars and across rim of roof, Nano protection to paintwork, glass nano work (including pano), leather, carpet protection (remember, I have gone with the Light frost interior) and wheel trim nano protection which prevents brake dust settling and eating into trims etc. Now this is full blown protection and not cheap but cannot see the point in doing it piecemeal over time as lots of minor marks/blemishes, chips, bird poop etc will occur. Here's hoping. Will try and give an appraisal in due course.
